they usually have like a 90 day to 1 year "probation" period before you are unfireable.

nice. i am not sure what pension I get if any, I chose a 403b acct when i started my benefits. Took 5 yrs to be vested in the state and I didnt think I would be here this long. I will also get a few bucks from ups, they bought out my pt pension but not my ft pension.

Mines actualy doing well. I sat down with a rep 2 yrs ago just as the economy was going in the shitter. We actualy invested more agressively at the time. Took a little hit at the time but have gotten sick returns the last 3 quarters, and am off to a good start on this one.

I want to talk to them again to see if I should reallocate some funds again and be more conservative or stay the course.

I'm still invested sorta aggressive...from when I first started it 5 years ago. Had a decent chunk of change in there before the tank. Now it's getting back to where it was.

Yeah I'm the same, everything I have is in aggressive funds. I might be almost 40 but I look at it as I still have 25+ years to work. My stuff isn't quit back to where it was a few years ago but it's getting there.

At 40 I'll be almost half way to retirement!

Right...but, in my case, state gov't employment has it's benefits. And only requiring 30 years of service before retirement is NICE.

Oh yeah, I can get full retirement at 30 years here but why stop working? Statistics show you are going to die within5 years of retirement anyway. Might as well keep working.

I would even be happy with a semi retirement where maybe I do a few shifts a week and can also live off my investments, thats where were hoping logging all these hours now pays off.

I dont have the stats offhand but have heard some companies complain how their pension funds are taking hits because people are living longer. Thats some nerve actualy living after you retire

Yeah, I got fucked.
Got hired on as a guard federal tech 1 week before our activation, but because I was leaving for a year, they wouldn't do my paperwork. They are holding the position for me when I get back, but I got none of the benifits of being a fed employee this whole time I'm gone.
Missing out on TSP matching, 120 hrs mil leave, 1 "step" of pay, and a year of vaca increase.

I figure it cost me around $7000

Still looking for other federal work. Would really like to get into something outdoors. Something either dealing with fish and wildlife, ag, law enforcement, or a combo thereof.

tommymac 01-25-2010 06:51 PM

Was a over all decent weekend, got to cover 2 shifts in the main ER, of course I want it to be busy there so I can see and do more stuff but it was relativeley quiet. Did get to watch security throw out an annoying overly beligerant patient. Shes always there and everyone hates her,my director calls her pure evil

Cutty72 01-26-2010 12:17 PM

We just got an informational briefing to try to quash some rumors.
It put some truth to some of the rumors, and killed bits and pieces of others.
Regardless, there will be more/new rumors started tomorrow!

Cutty72 01-26-2010 01:55 PM

My "busyness" at work from this point on will consist mostly of PT. Workouts 9 times a week from here on out.
Our 1SG decided that anyone that failed the running event in a PT test since we got here must join his running group 3 days a week... at 1600.
Never mind the fact that my test was NOT for record, and I had no intention of passing, I was setting a pace for my guys (they are older, and have more time than me to pass), and yet still only missed it by 3 seconds.
If I would have known he was going to pull this bullshit I would have sprinted the last 50 yards and passed. Stupid ass leadership.

SO, I figure fuck them. They want to make a mandatory run group... fine, I'll play along, but I'm not giving up my normal PT schedule. Doesn't bother me to be out of the office more than I'm in it.

Nice, we had a big italian spread and buffalo wings so of course I went totown :rockwoot:

I have 1 chart to finish and a few callbacks to make.

otherwise my goal for today is to see if I can hit 5k posts

I can do some damage on some wings.

And if I was really crazy I might try to get after 13k today. But I'm not crazy.

A bar w ego to has 10cent wings and 20cent ones on sundays durring the games. Me and a friend onc eordered 50 wings after one of our games w eeach ate those and had burgers. Safe to say he was one of the other lineman on our team.

hitting 13k that woul dbe some flurry of posting to hit that. I only need 50 or 60 so me regular rambling and killing time till 11 should make it doable
