That's the best Busa I've seen.........the pipe looks tight |
I let a buddy ride mine today.
He said it was surprisingly agile, smooth, easy to ride and comfortable. I think he also mentioned it was fast. lol |
RC51 is terrifically over rated. I've ridden 2 (an 02 and an 04 NH) I thought the bike was very solid and not easily upset in turns but with only a lackluster motor and terrible tach. I bet I hit the rev limiter a dozen times before I was able to feel where the bike was RPM wise. The look and sound sells that bike. Everything else is a liability IMO.
The Hayabusa is a great bike but terribly expensive as a commuter. I had an 02 Hayabusa as my car for a year. 25,000 miles, 6 full sets of tires and a chain and sprockets later.....and that was enough of that. Loads of fun though! |
OMG, and i think the builder of this bike (the shop where it's being sold) is 1 of the most reputable sportbike shops in town, and the it was the owners personnal bike

Holy F'n Shit. BUY IT.
|
yeah it;s a VERY sweet bike, but way over my head in terms of what i "need" which reflects in the price.........
all i want is a low priced one w/ reasonable miles, clean, and a nice exhaust...... |
sexy... but I notice the rear shock the first time... no need of three straight pics of it...

If you like it, offer him $5K and leave a contact number.
You never know. |

Man, I want that bike.... |
Quote:
and the owner is an aquaintence, so i don't wanna look too stupid. :lol now i'd pay $6k for it.......and i might throw out that offer.... |
Quote:
redflip:lol |
Quote:
|
There's another $800-1000 you're gonna need to spend if the owner weighs significantly different than you, and sprung/valved that suspension accordingly.

I've ridden it again since then and still feel the same. It didn't hurt that it also had a turbo and close to 250 rwhp so once I got used to it...it was kinda fun. :lol Me getting ready to head out on the beast... http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b8...D550/ry%3D400/ Taking it out again but this time with the wife on a Duc... http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b8...D550/ry%3D400/ |

That blue Booofa is mighty tasty looking too - though I'm not a big fan of the gold wheels, even though they to 'work' with the blue. |
Quote:
but for commuting i'd get it set up as much as possible for my weight, and call it good. the 'busa OTOH is already set up for my weight w/ ft springs oil and a rear spring. |

Quote:
wha ? that bike is purty! damnit! |
Bear in mind, the stock RC is somewhat oversprung & harsh for a 'normal' weight rider, and the full ohlins setup absolutely transforms it into a much better feeling/handling bike - trust me.

DOH !!!! :whatwhat:

Hey! There's my little curb-monkey! :sw: :nee:
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...c/IMG_0060.jpg Collective - If you don't have 'replacement value' insurance - GET IT! Could be the best few bucks you ever spend. |
Another note. the RC is the most UNCOMFORTABLE 2-up bike I have EVER been on.
|

I would think all sportbikes would be pretty similar in that regard except maybe in the plushness of the seat. :idk: |
First off the "passenger seat" is nothing more than a glued on cushion to the cowl and is very hard. The rear of the bike is also very high off the ground so getting on it with leathers took some contortion efforts (but I'm short). The passenger pegs are high up and are uncomfortable (got a few charley horses). The reach to the gas tank (where I like to place my hands) was long so I was constantly streched to hold on and last but not least, the passenger sits so high up you can see right over the drivers head and you are in a ton of wind blast from the wind shield. It was fun for about 15 mins of twisties....then I wanted off.
|
for a 20 mile round trip commute and nothing much else I would jump all over the RC51. I think the Busa would be great for long ribbons of highway or more comfortable two up trips but who can argue with the look and sound of the RC?

and the best part, we have roads to actually RIDE! 17 miles from my house is some great twisties.... and the roads you take to get to them is what most ppl ride for hours to get to

Holy Crickey whats up w/ ins.
geico $1500/yr prog. $1600/yr |

STATE FARM ftw |
Quote:
|
Quote:
For my little ninja 250 geico wanted $1500/year (the bike brand new was $3000), progressive wanted $700 and finally State Farm wanted $240 full coverage. My GSXr 750 with full coverage is $425/year. |

yeah i've had state farm before, prolly have to try them again. |

i don't have full cov. on the VFR, like $70/yr for lia. only.
|
dairlyand, $868/yr
un-insured motorist which includes med. ins. for me adds $400/yr |
I have Nationwide and they treat me well BUT if I was to leave...State Farm here I come.
I have full coverage on everything. |
I use Statefarm I pay 231 full coverage my 05 Busa with Turbo and a 250 Deductable. On my 08 B King I pay 236 with the same 250 Deductable

I have Nationwide for my homeowners and my and my wifes cars. They suck as far as I'm concerned. I should switch...but I'm too lazy. They were fucked on MC insurance...couldn't even come close to any other company...and that was with the multi policy discount.
|
Quote:
Two other companies...Amica and Erie Insurance were cheaper on everything else BUT not the bikes. I checked a few more that were about the same or higher that would cover the bikes....but it wasn't worth moving since I've been with them for years and have a ton of $hit to move so it wasn't worth it. I did not get a quote from State Farm for some reason but looks like I should have. |

if i bought an RC i wouldn't but know i'm leaning towards an '08 busa
|
Quote:
|
got it down to $802/yr for F/C thru state farm
adding uninsured/underinsured is an extra $140 yr, main thing is it would bring down my deduc from $1000 to 250 if i were hit by an unins/underins driver and it was their fault. not gettin that. |

you can feel the rumble... it takes a soulless zombie not to love the rc....
and the rc engine is so detuned you need to throw a pc on it with a good map, a good exhaust and perform the free mods to make it even better |
if anybody knows Castertroys ph #, tell him to drop me his phone # or check his facebook.
i'll be in greensboro to P/U the bike 9/11 |
ok, if its the rc your looking at, look up the flapper mod and perform it before you even ride the bike... its that important!
