Boy it sure sucks! She may be able to get her money back now since I called her that morning to tell her it was a scam. She literally was waiting for the bank to open to do the deal!!! She went back around 10 after class. If she had waited until after her first class to send it I would have caught her! Again live and learn! At least now we can go back to the Spring bike upgrade timetable...:rockwoot: I feel bad for her but it's kinda hard since she should get a check from G-pa tomorrow for a grand... SPOILED ROTTEN BRAT!!! |
I was always curious who was actually sending these people money to keep them running scams. I mean, if they didn't get anyone - they would go away, right?
Wire transfer should have tipped anyone off. Hopefully she gets her money back... it's an expensive lesson. Didn't State Farm run the VIN? |
I hope the bike arrives at her door.

I don't know, if it's a legitimate vin then State Farm will write a policy, right? I could go to the dealer and write down a vin and put insurance on every bike there if I wanted. Heck, I could call Allstate right now and put insurance on your bike if I have the vin....:idk: |

I just never knew someone that fell for it, that's all. :idk: I mean, who wires money to someone for something sight unseen without actual proof that said object exists? Paypal would even be a stretch for a big dollar object - but, a direct wire transfer?? I shouldn't be in shock - people must do it all the time or there wouldn't be scammers out there continuing to do it. |

Can you do us a favor - start a new thread that is JUST about her experience... maybe we can educate the world about this bullshit. I think it's tragic and horrible. I think no one should go through it, ever.
Luck to her getting her money back. I'd love to know the whole story [once y'all are comfortable telling it], AND the outcome. |

Hey I was just told last night that a friend of mine fell victum to another scam. Trying to buy tickets to a big college game. "Bought" them online via some avenue... western unioned $400 for them and poof! Can't file a police report because they were paying over face value and that is scalping. So its true. 2 negatives dont make a positive.

what game was it for?

I'll start a new thread once I hear something concrete from the bank. |
I'd be slightly less worried going through Paypal. They, at least, have some sort of safeguards if you don't recieve your shit.

PayPal sided with the seller in both cases because they were able to show a tracking number. That's all PayPal cares about and they'll side with the seller most times. I wouldn't waste my time using PayPal's "protection" again (and suggest everyone do the same, don't send directly from your bank account on PayPal!) |

sorry to hear about the loss tiggs. My only regret from starting on a 600 was my dumbass sold it when i bought the 954. Semi sorta looking for another hurricane as a daily beater/project. Wish i hadnt sold mine
|
I got the wrong part from eBay once. Paid with PP. They refunded my money when the seller wouldn't give me the correct part. Took forever but I got my money back. Then sold that fucking part too. Double win.
