I'll be down the weekend before to pick it up and drop it off at sixxxers house, my bike will be at your house when we are ready to go, and load it on the trailer which will be hooked to your truck.

Yes I have a Hitch.

And Fred Clarify what you just said Im confused? Lol And I would only need the trailer to tow Dave's bike (if he goes) Freds bike and Mine...If I did have three bikes though Id put two on the trailer and one in the bed...More room to keep the luggage in the bed with only one bike.

Ok so you and I are clear, once fred figures out what the hell hes talking about we will be good. I have a handful of tiedowns and one canyon dancer so LMK if you need any of that.

Hey has anyone used the series two Canyon Dancers? I don't want to risk wrecking my new grips but I'm way too lazy to install my frame sliders with the tie down eyes...

I have never ruined a set of grips on any bike with the canyon dancer 1 or seen it happen for that matter, but I am sure the canyon dancer 2 is fine.

Yeh thats what I mean. I can pick the trailer up from LI the weekend before and either keep it at my house or drop it at sixxxers house.

Yea I know, I have a couple sets but I have "tweaked" a grip or two...

the chi 01-12-2010 10:43 PM

Hey Derf, you might also be able to rent a trailer from whatever military installation you are closest to. The one down here rents an enclosed trailer big enough for one large cruiser for 20 bucks a day or a weekend.

Racedoll, I'd definitely love to meet you and your hubby! Mine knows whats important, he couldnt make it to Indy but didnt begrudge me the trip, and he'd most likely be cool with me making this one by myself if he cant. Tho he will be there, Im making sure of it!

Mcguire/Dix stopped renting out trailers last summer, they bought 2 new ones in june and by july they were unuseable because they were smashed up too much. Tommy is only 1 1/2 hour north of me, before the rally last year I drove up to his area for a funeral on enroutey to the rally.

Damn....y'all were busy today.

The only "dealership" in Blairsville is Yammie/Honda - but I've got a local hook up with BMW Ambassador - what do you guys need? Couldn't really tell from the post.

Hokie - hell no. Period. There are rebel flags atop every flag pole for 20 square miles or more...but we don't allow stuffed anything on the wall.

The Chi - if the wife is coming - I'll even throw in the Honeymoon suite for no extra $$ - but you are right - this is going to be one hell of a party!

I'm on my way to GA, but will send info to Trip for posting of information, rates, and booking details this week.

Thanks.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure... unless someone shows up on a Wing... I'll have the best back seat. Tsunami may have to rock/paper/scissors for it. LOL

I just sent the wife an email (yes email... I forgot to ask earlier) to see if there is anything going on that weekend. And I'm putting in for the vacay time at work tonight.

Mr Lefty 01-13-2010 01:42 AM

I'm down for the BS sessions... don't think i'll be following ya'll on many rides with the DRZ... but I'll take photos for those that want.

No going on a moto trip just after you get married. Two weeks and already dragging her with you. My wife would of slapped me at the very notion of it.

I'll likely be the on my VFR, and it's a great 2-up yet still 'sporting' ride. Anyone that wants to (translation: are crazy enough to) ride with me will be welcome to. I've got a good bit of 2-up experience in the twisties & actually enjoy doing so - though I take the responsibility extremely seriously & it's the most stressing/exhausting riding I have ever done.

If you're going to bring the VFR then you need to just trailer and bring the GSX-R so I can ride it again Kerry :D j/k ;) or if Josh will bring the 600 along this time.... hmmmm.

Yeah, today is perfect for riding, dammit, I'm working. I'll be off Sunday when it's supposed to rain... but if it doesn't, when are you heading home?

I'll probably be there all week... got my brothers wedding the weekend of the 22nd in Iowa... thinking of just riding straight from there to the lodge and leaving for home on the 7th...

depends on the $ though... be nice to ride from Iowa to GA on pure backroads...

Trip you down for some dual sport riding?

think I'm gonna try to find something around there

Forest service roads are good in that area. I know a couple locals. I will find us a good route.

I will probably be getting some tourrances soon because my bridgesucks are almost to cords on the front.

I was gonna say you shouldn't have a problem finding some good FS trails and roads around there. I have customers that go in that area on KLR's and such but don't know particular routes. If one of them comes in I'll try to get some specifics for ya.

I need some new tires. the stock tires are done. got about 50% on the D606's... need to fine some new street tires though.

so nothing too muddy...

yeah, the GS isn't going anywhere bad, that's what I have the DRZ for.

The forest service roads are hard packed gravel typically.

Mr Lefty 01-17-2010 12:49 AM

oh... very different than western forest service roads... those you need to have a lift and 4x4 to go on...

you should trailer the bikes down... but I doubt the civic would pull the DRZ and the GS as they probably weigh as much together as the civic it self!

I am not being the guy that trailers a GS. I don't think the civic would like trailering the GS let alone both.

Who would have done that??

Drewpy - lots to explore and fun to be had on 4 wheels directly from the resort...plus, miles and miles of trails in the local area.

If you are bringing a sports car, we are all going to take turns kicking you in the nuts if you try to bring that out on a ride with us.

You aren't Jeeps.

You are absolutely right about that, I would LOVE to make the ride, just saying 768 miles!!!! And I'm already planning on driving to floriday a month later, in a minivan, with a 3yr old :wtfru:

Wuss, I drove 600+ to Orlando in mostly subfreezing temps during NYE. 768 in spring/summer isn't worse. Stay at Drewpys as a lay over.

I'm trying to figure out a way to introduce this plan to the wife. We have vaca's in march and july planned, so getting of time at work will be tricky also. Hmm, give me a few minutes and I can come up with some more excuses.

and total sidenote, did we ever figure out if Drewpy was full of @#$@# about the whole bike in the tree thing?

dReWpY 01-22-2010 12:45 PM

So I iwll still have the high mileage award   my house to two was around 900 last year. Not sure where this lodge is in comparison and I am now about 15 miles further east on LI.
