It's certainly been quiet around here. I do miss the olden days where this forum was popping - especially when all the CF folks came over (myself included).

Marko was cool, didn't really realize he was gone until you mentioned something.

10 years ago if you didn't log in every 2 hrs or so you missed a HELLOVA thread with all kinds of interesting people being respectful and actually having conversations. Now? It's like /b/ and the kids that ran it took over every forum....well actually it was vertical scope....but EVERYTHING died after that. Even the forums not run by those twat waffles.

I think with age comes less participation in forums in general. And this forum is older than your average sportbike forum, from what I've seen.

They've all bought Harley's and assless chaps.

Its not exclusive to forums, there seems to be quite a bit less chatter on Facebook over the past 6 months or so as well.

This forum was always sort of a refugee camp for VS victims anyway. There was the initial wave of OG peeps. Then there was the other wave that came through from CF. That's when things got real busy. I wasn't a big fan of some of those peeps, too cliquey.

Its weird to go through real old stickey threads and see old names like Neebs and some of those real old peeps that haven't been around in awhile....

I noticed FB has slowed down a bit too, same with the forums. I liked the forums since you could at least meet new people and have interactions with them as opposed to FB where you prety much know everyone to begin with.

When I first got into motorcycles email lists were the way to go, then not too long after it was message boards. I wonder if the message board era is ending and the people who used to spend their internet free time on message boards are spending it on Facebook. If not there then I dont know where, I guess it could be the age thing.

I dont think facebook will be able to replace message boards completely, I just think people are using less of them. The bigger boards will stick around cause they provide valuable knowledge of specialized hobbies/equipment/whatever. The small boards like us will fade though.

Yeah I was on all the email chains...and that's how I caught wind of all the forums in '99

I had most of my "friends" emails from forums and have them on FB....but dang.....it was as if the moment FB went public trading, 90% of my FB friends just up and stopped posting to FB all together.

Just kinda weird.

My small local forum folded. The OTHER local forum is somewhat surviving. And like Trip said..the big focused forums will remain for information purposes (I never do anything but lurk on the powerstroke and BMW forums, but DAMN are they a wealth of knowledge in OLD posts)

I just miss all the conversations and thought provoking debates from different points of views :-(

I find people are still on facebook and Twitter. Some forums are still busy. I have been busy with a few things but I always have some forums open. I have 6 open right now. I always check back in to see whats going on but jump in less because there is less being talked about. I miss how busy things were back in the day. There was a time when you had lots of on topic threads to talk in or if you didn't feel like that there were a ton of off topic threads going on.

Then there was all the dirty sex type threads as the weather got really cold.

Yeah most of the boards I frequent have seen a drop off in traffic. I think its just the nature of the internet. A type of internet based communication rises and falls every few years, they sort of seem to fade away.

The first board I was on was back in 1999 is still active but not like it was back then (www.g2ic.com), while others I have dealt with have grown by leaps and bounds (I am member #133 out of 25k+ on www.focaljet.com) and I stopped caring about it because it got too big for me.

Even cycleforums was on the large side, and there were whole sections that I never visited, with folks that never left that small part of the site.

Anyway, one day facebook will start loosing bussiness to something newer, same with twitter and google, they will all be replaced by something bigger and better, its just the nature of the internet.

I have to say, when SBN was in its' prime, I was all over the board. Then that collapsed and I went to CF then that went corporate and I came here. Each break-up leaves us a little smaller and more segregated.
