Man come on! Get you both Android tablets ftw! They bluetooth keyboards for the that stand them up like a lap top when necessary... I mean, what are you going to store in a laptop anyway?

I can't find it now but here's one for the I-Pad that we're getting my boss for X-Mas.

Android tablets can't compete with a full size laptop, they are for casual use. This is for Andrea's normal use. She needs a laptop.

I have a GS, storage is not an issue for me. I am also going to be needing more computing power than a tablet for what I am wanting to do with it. I don't really need a tablet when I have a android phone.

Oh well.... Most people I know don't really use the laptops they carry around. Office apps, internet, powerpoint, enough storage to get through the day and BINGO!

I agree with you about have a smart phone though... I use mine to store and recall tons of info for my job!

Amber Lamps 11-22-2010 11:15 PM

Hey, you need to clean your BMC air filter every once in a while.... DOH!!!!

Riding Sun my bike was chugging over 9,000 ... Man, what you can forget when you don't have a "winter" to tinker with your bike.

Mine is going to be for massive amounts of multimedia. I plan to record the entire ride. I don't feel like dealing with a tablet when doing large file tranfers. I want to get a big enough hard drive so I won't need a portable drive.

I will probably sell the laptop after the trip and upgrade my desktop. I am not a laptop person.

A is getting one for playing on the net (which could be a tablet), streaming netflixs and files from the server, and photography. She would rather a laptop for the photography part.

To each their own... Aren't there portable HDD drives that have sd card slots and usb ports so you can download the info direct and sort through it when you get home? I have found laptops to be kinda vulnerable...

Okay, okay.... my last sugestion was buy some big sd cards and sort through it at home.... Anyway, I get it buddy, you want a laptop dammit!!!

My boss has been talking about these... Not bad with a 32G sd, you've got 64G of storage. We can get them from US Cellular and only pay about $15/month if we don't download too much away from WiFi.

Last event was years ago. There's been a number of disputes regarding how to take it down which stretched things out to today. Glad I could see it one last time, I was overseas when they imploded the vet

What about the fact that you detroyed ur first one and had to basically rebuy it in repair costs?

dReWpY 11-24-2010 01:04 AM

they covered the entire cost, and i had to pay nothing... pure win in my book

Gas Man 11-24-2010 01:36 AM

I don't remember. Howd u pull tt off?

But I will say this. Then they aren't buletproof either.

the chi 11-24-2010 08:38 AM

Im on the fence. Im not a huge fangirl of the Apple brand, tho I LOVE my iphone, regardless of what you haters say, and I love aspects of my Macbook. Like I dont have to wait 20 minutes for it to boot up like my old windows based laptops, but at the same time, it does piss me off when it comes to saving things, finding shit it rearranged for me because I pushed the wrong button, etc. Mostly my fault as I havent taken a tutorial on using the damn thing. As far as quality and screen resolution, OMG its awesome. But that only really matters if you need that, and I still do alot of photography so its great. I guess it all falls down to what you need it for.

Gas, NOTHING is bulletproof.

marko138 11-24-2010 08:38 AM

Gas you've never even used a Mac. STFU.

Dave 11-24-2010 09:02 AM

Ps3 ylod'ed for the second time last night. Grrrrrrr. Oh well, I was thinking about changing up the thermal compound and maybe redlining the stock fan anyway

It overheated and desoldered either the cpu or gpu. A fix involves stripping it down to motherboard and frying it with a heat gun. Then reassembling with new thermal transfer compound. Usually only lasts a few months.

To extend those months I'm thinking about taking advantage of the ps3's variable speed fan. Either by hardwiring it for full speed, switch, or maybe a potentiometer, or some combination of the three.

Rangerscott 11-24-2010 02:34 PM

There's the fix were you drip liquid solder under it, then heating it. Of course all these console fixes are really ghetto and are harmful. Putting a concentrated 1500f heat beam on a cpu is not good.

Turned out my PS3 wasnt overheating. Damn undead redemption was just fudged up. I just went to another location, saved, then went back to the missionary and it worked. Sucks that consoles games are now buggy like pc games.

I would recommend taking the HDD cover plate off. The HDD gets pretty hot down there with no air flow. I have HDD cover off, PS3 standing up on a laptop fan cooler. Very nice.

I'm going to open her back up and install a fan control knob. It gets annoying hearing the thing go quite, then loud, quite, then loud, etc. I want a nice constant medium fan speed and a cool ps3. Not let it heat up to volcano heat, then breath on it for a minute.

I try warm the whole board up before I concentrate anything. Always let it cool before touching or moving too.

I'm thinking about drilling the case and adding a mini switch to send a 3.3v signal to the fan (max speed) and leaving the stock circuit in the off position. Could always add a pot later if I feel its too loud

Rangerscott 11-24-2010 04:09 PM

3.3v? The fan is 12v.

Dave 11-25-2010 12:33 PM

had the ps3 back together last night and running like a top. skipped the fan mod this time as it looked like the failure came from some of the thermal compound vanishing. like 30 effing percent. put on a nice thick layer this time and we'll see how long it goes

yeah i know.. it was some weak shit for sure.. shit man the weather has been golden here - up until last friday it was warm as shit.. then friday, saturday, sunday it was cold then 60 on monday.. now it is cold again.. we have gotten barely any rain and a minuscule amount of snow.. i would dig a heavy snow fall so i can go back roading in the 4x4 and do some hunting in the snow but i learned from living in michigan a long time ago - never complain about the weather.. i got better things to do.. just make the most of whatever the weather is..
