Took the interstate to Floyd, VA to stay at Tuggles Gap Thursday night. Plus, my sister lives in Gray and I wanted to see her new baby.

Turbo Ghost 09-28-2011 07:59 PM

Next time you're over here, let me know and we can hit Shady Valley!

SUCKS! I hit a whopper in kentucky, but luckily it only lasted bad for about 25miles. But during that time, I could barely see 25ft in front of me.

Gas Man 09-28-2011 10:17 PM

Well I see everybody else has posted pics either so I don't feel so bad.

I'm uploading them all to PB now... think I will do some slide shows to cut down on posted pics... which really only means like 50 pics instead of 200 in the posts.

Will have to do that tomry... they are taking forever to all upload.

Yeah I had some of those... I even have a bunch more of those banner shots.

I will get mine uploaded tonight hopefully!

Great pics Derf!! I will steal a few of those...

And OH GET THIS!!

I guess Capt's talking to the cowboy boots girl, Yeah I know her name... Well I spoke to her mom today. She was quite "smitten" with you and really wanted to join us after you asked her. But she's 17 so it didn't happen. LOL I re-assured her mother that she could have joined us, we are mostly harmless. :skep: So maybe that is reason enough for Capt to come down for 2012... she'll be 18 then! :tremble::whatwhat:

derf 09-30-2011 12:35 PM

Sweet, we can run that train I mentioned to the dude on grandfather mountain

We got stuck behind this goldwing with a trailer and his wife on her own... most of us got around, but Turbo Ghost got "stuck" behind which started my afternoon hell.

Great pics man! I meant to ask earlier how things went when you caught back up with Mr. Sunshine on his goldwing after we split-up!? Was he just as happy to see you the second time around? If I had another piston, I would have passed him!

Gas Man 10-02-2011 12:37 AM

I don't think we ever saw him again.. he must have turned off.

And I hear ya on the piston... but had to razz ya about it!

Turbo Ghost 10-02-2011 12:47 AM

Don't worry about razzin' on me! I can take it! (That's what she said!) I think I'll be back in that area again tomorrow actually! I've got a ride with some friends and they mentioned we might head that way.

I dont think its that hard to pass on the klr, but all passing maneuvers need to be planned and executed in advance of when you actually want to do it. For example, if you are passing someone after a long sweeper, give some space between you and the bike you are passing before the curve like 50 or so feet. then accelerate through the corner as hard as possible and start to pass while exiting the corner, when you also happen to have maximum visibility. Doing it this way will also allow you to suggest to the KLR that it might be time to slow down if there is a vehicle in the oncoming traffic lane.

Amorok 10-02-2011 12:35 PM

Goddamn, I wish I hadn't missed this.

Gas Man 10-02-2011 03:09 PM

Trip, where do I submit my "End to End" story for the BRP?

Trip 10-02-2011 03:16 PM

http://brpfoundation.org/end-to-end/

Turbo Ghost 10-02-2011 05:20 PM

Don't get me wrong, I could have passed him anytime I wanted IF I wanted to go screaming by him! The parkway isn't somewhere I want to be strafing other riders! Especially with a personalized tag like mine! Had it been the Gap, I would have passed him immediately but, not on the parkway.

Awww, looks like a good time.

I think I finally understand the circle and why I cant be part of it...all you boys riding 2 up. *shudder*

Sorry I missed it, first year ever . Glad to hear we'll do it there next year tho, I'm sure I'll be there.

Trip 10-03-2011 01:44 PM

You need to come Rae. I think the place was better and more fun than tapoco.

Turbo Ghost 10-03-2011 09:12 PM

I'll have you know there was NO 2-up riding on my bike! I would gladly have shared with you though! Granted, I did sleep with Tommy while I was there but, the others made me! They had to protect Derf from the big scary spiders that make him scream like a girl!

See how much fun you missed!!

tommymac 10-03-2011 09:22 PM

Man those spiders woud have taken rae and ran off with her

I can see I would not have fit in either. True "sportbike" and no hard luggage... clearly out of this year's rally. Looks like you all had a good time!

It's amazing how we all started out as sportbikers and now hardly any of us have them, lol

Guys on the triumph froum are seeing them go for less now, part of me feels rooked for paying what I did, but at the same time I love the bike so I cant complain.

Yeah, being not really in the market and currently broke, he would have had to hit $9k or less to peak my interest, especially on a demo unit.

sad but true. 1125 3300 miles, gt 5100 miles

Turbo Ghost 10-04-2011 08:48 PM

If we had a track within 100 miles of here, I'd have bought a track bike long ago! They're great for what they do but, I'm just not comfortable on them for anything else.

I'll probably buy a track bike sometime in the next 5 years. Depends on finances.

If I went to the track more than 1 or 3 times a year then maybe
