Same reason you've got a ZX6R and recommend the ZX10. Same reason I'd buy another Buell. He's got a Yami. He likes the bikes, the brand. He wants another one.

exactly.. honestly all the major brands are pretty close in performance (that none of us hacks will ever get close to the limit) but we all prefer something different.. always have and always will ride yamaha.. almost got a smoking deal on a gsxr 750 and would have bought it as a trackbike but didn't work out..

Here is the response from the 2007 listed above (insert scam - I think anyways, thoughts?)

2270$ covers all.
The bike is at DAS terminal in Palm Bay,FL
Here is how it works if you have never used Autotrader.
You send me your full name and your shipping address so I can initiate the transaction.Autotrader contacts you with further details regarding the payment and shipping process. You submit the payment to Autotrader, Autotrader confirms the payment and asks me to release the shipment.I ship the bike which should be at your door within 5 business days. You have a 3 days inspection period before you confirm the deal and Autotrader forwards the payment to me or you cancel the deal and you get your money back and return the bike free of charge.
Basically Autotrader holds your money safe until you confirm that the bike is what you have been expected and you want to buy it. It is not a sight unseen deal.
On the other hand I can ship the bike knowing Autotrader has your money and you won't dissapear with my bike.
We are both covered.Sorry for the long emails I have tried to touch all bases.

Gas Man 05-05-2011 10:27 AM

200% scam!

Mudpuppy 05-05-2011 03:56 PM

yeah I thought so too.. I told him I would have my attorney contact him and set up a letter of credit or escrow if that is acceptable.. no response.. fbi working in canada? motherfucker please.. at least he had decent spelling, etc.

Seriously. they do not suck anymore. I've have ALOT of Kawis and I've ridden alot of other sportbikes and it is true they were not as refined as other bikes till about 2008. The ZX6r is the best 600 IMO (and nearly all of the mags) and now the ZX10r the best 1000. Even the suspension guy told me to upgrade to the 2011 10r because they "finally got the chassis right" when I wanted to get a 2008 R1. He said ithe 2008 R1 t is a heavy POS, that a 2007 would be a much better option if I wanted an R1.

They are very close...but Kawis does not suck any longer, yet still easiest to work on.

I bought the ZX6r because it was 7899 OTD, at least a grand cheaper than any other 600. redflip And ranked highest by the mags for refinement.

Homeslice 05-06-2011 09:13 PM

Fuck the 2008 R1. I think you mean 2009+. With an exhaust it almost sounds like a Ducati.

Mudpuppy 05-06-2011 09:50 PM

This thread is dead. Lock it down. I picked up an 06 anniversary R1.

Is the 2009 the crossplane bike? Then no..it sucks. Get an 06-08...much more flickable bike.

Mudpuppy 05-07-2011 12:30 AM

09, 10 and 11 are the crossplane.. when i was talking to the different dealers their selling point was the fact the 09, 10 and 11 have 3 different acceleration modes - mild, medium and aggressive.. doesn't really appeal to me.. i don't really see much value in it..

Flickable is mostly susp. setup and tire choice

What would you prefer, another generic 4-cyl? ....or one that has a nice beat to it. Let's face it, the R1 is the only Jap bike with any distinctive feature about it. The rest are all the same.......Traction control, BPF, 3-mode ECU, radial brakes, slipper clutch........almost all of them have that shit now.

Sure the motor is good, but why 20lbs heavier? So they can put a big counterbalancer on?

I prefer inlines to V-twins for canyon riding....I have better throttle control with inlines.

And the only reason for BPF is because they are cheaper, yet inherently more expensive to do front end work.

Don't you mean the 2006 R1 would be a better option? The 2007 and 2008 are the same bike.

Yeah I was mistaken when he first posted the 2008...I thought that was the heavy crossplane bike...but it is not.

Mudpuppy 05-09-2011 10:10 AM

Yeah 2004-06 are the same bike pretty much - the 06 has some chasis mods that make it handle a bit better but 99% is the same for the 3 years.. 07 was a new model and same as 08.. 09 was the cross plane crank shaft and continued through 11 (essentially 09-11 are the same bike).. I hear 12 is going to be another new model but not confirmed.. But seriously if I am going to spend $14k on a bike I would just get the BMW S1000RR..

Homeslice 05-09-2011 11:51 AM

Trouble with the 07/08 is they don't look different enough from the 04-06

Bigger headlights, bigger and more pronounced air intakes, bigger tail section, and I believe a different side fairing. A much better looking bike than the 04\06 imho... it was my favorite looking litre bike for years.

Isn't the Gix rather porky as well?

Besides, an extra 20 lbs isn't going to hurt anything unless you're racing. In fact it might even make it ride better.

It does...alot. 20lbs moving at 100mph when you have to turn in 0.5s begins to become a problem.

So how come you bought a couple ZX-7R's redflip

Coulda had a much lighter Gix 750 but you didn't :idk:

the us spec yam shuts the butterflys on you as revs increase. up to 60% at redline. the fix is...expensive.

to be fair the kawi does this too though somewhat less intrusively and is quite a bit easier (and cheaper) to banish

correct. that second exhaust comes at a price.

according to the current issue of FB, dry weights (kg)

cbr: 172
bmw: 183
F4: 192
zx: 198
gsxr: 205
R1: 206

in acceleration the r1 got pantsed by everything but the f4.

Homeslice 05-09-2011 10:41 PM

F4 as in the MV? I thought I read an article a few months ago saying they were really impressed with it

Listen slice redflip Remember...back in the late 90s, early 2000s, suspension was shit, so the heavier bikes yielded more confidence in the corners. That is not the case anylonger. Even Racetech shit back then didn't really fix the stability issue.

Besides I DID have a 2002 Gix 750....got stolen the first month I moved to CA. Mexicans...

Are you taking about the exhaust butterflys? I think this is only to warm up the cat faster, no?

No. The throttle butterfly's. The us spec r1 does NOT give the rider full power under any condition.
