New Bike Day.

went down to check out a bike i was really interested, and it lived up to and beyond my expectations. This CBR was practically flawless. Guy was asking 5.4k, we agreed on 5k, i'm going to pick it up later this week. Frame sliders, Swing arm sliders, Puig windscreen, Jardine exaust.

This guy made me very confident that the bike was well taken care of. Considering he was really only testing waters (he had just bought a new boulevard cruiser) I couldnt really talk him down too much, but for 5k and the condition this bike is in and has been maintained, im very happy.

I'll need to get new tires, well, just because. w/o the right tires it just feels like you're not riding the right bike. I'll end up getting flushies and new signals to replace the notorious ugly honda stock signals. Other than oil chg and possibly some new pads, this thing is ready to go. Only things im changing are out of preference, this thing is almost imacculate. No scratches, no dents, has never been down, shifts flawlessly, starts flawlessly, feels... well... it feels diferent.

Not the same riding stance as my F3. Its gonna take some adjustment to get used to the more agressive stance, but i think partially the reason i was thrown off was because of the tires. They were a little boxed out from commuting. Even still, its like riding a completely different type of bike.

hes throwin in all sorts of gear and crap too, so be sure to look out for some FS threads by yours truely.
Im going to pick her up later this week.

Noice!

I bet if you painted the back of the windscreen silver it would look pretty good against the bike... Make it all yellow... (that is of course if I am remembering you saying that you weren't crazy about the windscreen)

i wasnt, really. but then i saw it and person and it changed my perspective. its actually very very sweet looking when its right in front of you. Dont think i'll mess with it at all. at the very most i may paint the back of it like you said, silver or black.

the pipe sounds SICK.

wonder how much i can get for the stock pipe, parts, etc.

If you paint the back black, it'll just look black with maybe a hint of yellow... that may actually look pretty cool... If you paint it silver, it'll look yellow...

I see the stock cans going on eBay for sub-$50... You'd be better off selling the Jardine if you wanted to recoup some costs... I bet it sounds too good for that shit though... :D

yeah, selling the jardine is NOT an option. may as well try to scrap the can to somebody looking to jerry rig an undertail exhaust.

TBH i doubt i'll paint the screen... just wait till you see it in person OSP. o wait your a little bitch and dont come to organized events.

Mr Lefty 05-05-2008 06:52 PM

Fuck'n sweet bro! when you get the money getting the swing arm powdercoated black makes the bike look 10000x better IMO. (you'd have to do the rearsets also)

IDK w/ the silver lower fairing, i think it meshes perfectly. Really not all about the blackout scheme, i've seen so many black bikes it doenst even seem cool any more.

If i were to go any color, it'd be white. Trips CBR is still the baddest CBR around IMO. never thought i'd shoot for yellow. If anyting other than red, it was gonna be blue.

But shit grows on ya. plus i dont think i've EVER seen a yellow 03 600, they're like nonexistant.

Mr Lefty 05-05-2008 07:08 PM

this is fuck'n awesome though man... glad you got back on two this quick!

Quick281 05-06-2008 02:28 AM

Hell Yes! Congrats on the new bike! Won't be seeing it at the rally, but I am sure I will read up on your experiences as you ride her. :rockwoot:

DLIT 05-06-2008 07:00 AM

Sweet bike. Very capable. I suggest you read up/practice on body positioning and all that. You'll be riding on rails in no time.

heres the pics i took just yesterday. i'd say its exactly the same condition as the ones above, taken a while back. Thing had some sparkling wheels.

of for shiz. those things cut down on HP through wind resistance for sure.

Im going this route. for the front
http://www.ironpony.com/CatImg/Large/SMOKE-AERO-LED.jpg
, not sure bout the back yet. may go integrated, may not. leaning towards the set in the second column, third down.

Mr Lefty 05-06-2008 11:55 AM

if you go the route of the short stalks make sure you go with bulbs... I have the LP LED ones... and they're bright but only when angled at you... you can't see them for shit if your at any sort of angle... :2cents:

yea i know from experience that LEDs are not the way to go for visibility. so Im still not sold on these. any examples, ebbs?

Mr Lefty 05-06-2008 12:08 PM

naw... I don't think so... when I swapped mine over the only pics I took were when the lights were angled at the cam... but if ya want... I'm replacing mine anyhow... so I'll see if cutty will go over and remove the rear signals... (fuck'n 2min job at most) and send them to ya... :idk:

t-homo 05-06-2008 12:10 PM

If you don't mind, how much is insurance going to cost you on that thing? And who is it through?

dReWpY 05-06-2008 12:13 PM

im running led's on back, i havent had trouble being seen, the microns might ahve something to do with it

Cutty72 05-06-2008 12:27 PM

the stock LED's on the 1125 are bright as hell, love 'em!

pickle.of.doom 05-06-2008 02:07 PM

Nice, 03?

And if you want people to actually SEE your turn signals, stick with the stockers. I have some small led flushmounts on my cbr and they might as well just not even be on there.

Trip 05-06-2008 02:22 PM

Yeah my flushmounts are basically there so there isn't a hole cause theyd don't do anything. It's not like I use them though.

NtS, I may have a pair of short stalks just like that at home for ya. Let me check tonight. Left overs from the SV.

Yea, i know. had the same problem on my F3. the rears were especially bad. But eh, wtf are ya gonna do, i dont want to get airborn from those fucking wings honda tries to pass of as turn signals.

Those things suck! Just about any turn signal smaller than stock sucks for visibility.

But, we could also use the argument that riding a bike sucks for visibility so we might as well stick with cages. Fuck that shit.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-06-2008 03:35 PM

im not keeping the stock signals. so if anybody has any high visability signals that dont look like shit, please feel free to chime in.

Rider 05-06-2008 03:36 PM

I have some short stalks I'll give you for free. I took them off when I went to an integrated tail light. You can see pic of them on my PB page(which I cant access right now). They are the ones that come with the Targa fender eliminator kit.

Amber Lamps 05-06-2008 06:10 PM

2 Attachment(s)
See that's what I'd do. Remove the stock fender and get a clear alternatives led tail light with integrated turn signals. Install the Greg's flush mounts in the front.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-06-2008 06:16 PM

yea thats nice tigs, love that integrator, but i dont wanna drop the hundy on it till after deals gap. just ordered these though

http://www.ironpony.com/CatImg/Large/SMOKE-AERO-LED.jpg

and these cheapies for the rear till i can afford the integrator.

also picked up some of these.

Hey ya gotta do what ya gotta do! FYI the int tail light is dist by Tucker Rocky and most stealerships will give you 20% making the tail kit $80 or so. At least you're removing those FUGULISHIOUS stock turn signals! I don't think you'll be happy with the LP short stalks but maybe....

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...h_DSCN0646.jpg

like I said... I have replacements... (stock ones from an 05) that I'm gonna put on... your welcome to these... only bit is I'd have to convince cutty to go take them off and mail them to ya... only cost would be shipping.

upshift 05-07-2008 09:32 AM

yea no shit, its just painted in a CF pattern, which is why i didnt buy them. i only got the plain black ones. For 15 bucks it'll keep me happy until i can get the integrator or WE.

pickle.of.doom 05-07-2008 12:36 PM

You should paint the lower fairing (gray) black, looks sweet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_1244.jpg

NONE_too_SOFT 05-07-2008 12:37 PM

it wouldnt look as sweet with my grey swing arm... but i think you just gave me a winter project. know anybody that can powdercoat?

and wtf is w/ solo cowls costing 190 god damn dollars? i know targa is usually a fucking rip but ffs i could buy a completly new tail for 190 bucks.

t-homo 05-07-2008 12:41 PM

I'd just keep the seat there.

pickle.of.doom 05-07-2008 12:41 PM

Yeah, I looked into that shit a little bit too, but figured fuck it, the price for a cowl is close to 1/2 the price of a whole set of track plastics, so I am just going to wait until I finally take it off the street for good.... when I pick up bike #3 :D

Yeah, I took the passenger pegs off of the blast, cuz the main ones were kinda bent, so i just switched them and left them off. New bike already has them off and a cover.

Yea me too! I very rarely take anyone riding with me. My pegs and seat are usually in the closet. Btw I'll check around but I think that the cowl from a 1000 fits your bike as well. If this is true,it'll give you more options. So far the best I could find was a red one for $100 or an unpainted one for $112. I'll keep looking...

Mr Lefty 05-07-2008 09:06 PM

so when do you pick the bitch up?

NONE_too_SOFT 05-07-2008 09:09 PM

well its supposed to thunderstorm all day tomorrow, so not tomorrow.

Its only supposed to rain a little on friday, and mostly in the AM... so friday it is.

only problem is i cant get down to get the thing notorized until around 5-530... so its gonna be close to get the title notorized. and all that. then im on my way back up here.

Mr Lefty 05-07-2008 09:11 PM

how far away is he? cant you do the notorizing on thursday then just get the bike friday?

what are you getting notorized? bill of sale?

NONE_too_SOFT 05-07-2008 09:15 PM

um the title. doesnt it have to be notorized when he signs it over?

and its 2 1/2 hours away so i dont want to have to make this trip more than once more.

Mr Lefty 05-07-2008 09:25 PM

Oh... I didn't know... I've never had the title notorized... I don't think... :idk: just took the title in with the signature on the back and had it transfered to my name...

could be diffrent state by state though

marko138 05-07-2008 10:28 PM

PA has to be notorized, MD does not. It varies by state. Call the DMV.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-07-2008 10:30 PM

pretty sure i need it notorized. also need some form i just printed off.

dReWpY 05-08-2008 12:29 PM

NONE_too_SOFT 05-08-2008 12:38 PM

Mr Lefty 05-08-2008 08:01 PM

 ahh ok.. any pics?

NONE_too_SOFT 05-08-2008 08:03 PM

nah i was too pissed at the time, and my phone battery was dying from trying to find service so much.

Mr Lefty 05-08-2008 08:07 PM

yeah I figured it was a long shot.

oh well... turned out well for ya!

NONE_too_SOFT 05-08-2008 08:11 PM

im kickin myself now... but at the time it was kinda like this.

"o shit i crashed"... "im out in the middle of nowhere[check phone]"..."o shit my battery is almost dead"..."i dont even want to post this shit on the internet anyways, how fucking retarded am i"..." oh god still nobody, and my phone is STILL dying"

and then some people showed up and helped. after that it was a scramble to get the bike unwedged from the guard rail and get me back into town. its pretty fucking scary riding a sport bike with your front caliper leaking for 8 miles.

Smittie61984 05-08-2008 10:20 PM

I'm calling BS!!!

You just wanted a new bike and figured if you slid into a gaurdrail you could get a new one. I see your angle.

Just curious but do you still have the bike and do you plan to part it out? I need some spare rims if they are good. Plan to do a lot of long trips this year and want to put some interstate oriented tires so I don't wear out my PPs

I know you are going to quote "So I don't wear out my PPs" and cut out the rest.

that's exactly how I felt when my tire when flat 100 miles outside of anchorage... looked down and had no signal.. too a step and.. .beep signal... took me 50some calls to AAA to get one to last long enough to pass enough info for them to send a truck. and I was in a mountain pass and the sun was setting... I'd have froze to death

nah, didn't get the salvage title this time... felt like i would have been robbing the ins company AGAIN. i donno what they'll do with the bike, give state farm a call and find out.

PhiSig1071 05-09-2008 09:48 PM

Congrats on the new bike! Glad you didn't get hurt trying to limbo under a guardrail with an F3.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-09-2008 10:34 PM

JoJoYZF 05-09-2008 10:41 PM

My cheap ass flush mounts just showed up from iron pony today, should I start a new thread for those now too?

NONE_too_SOFT 05-09-2008 10:42 PM

F U man. I'm going to Deal's Gap tommorow and I'll crash my F3 and get a F4 instead and I'll show you. How's that better you ask??? Well it's This F4

Damn man. I was at the Honda dealer today and since it was "New Glove Day" I picked up my Cortech gloves for my summertime riding.

Well they had 4 new 1000RRs in there and all I could do was drool on them(Then violate them which got me kicked out for some reason). I wish I could get one and was tempted to see if I could(I doubt it though). Except my insurance would be roughly $200-300 a month.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-09-2008 11:05 PM

yea, i saw that f4 at the bike show... i tried to touch it but then blacked out and found myself lying face down in a dumpster in mexico.

you seriously have to TRY to make a bike that expensive, it just doesnt "happen".

sssh buddy, they'll hear you ;)

NONE_too_SOFT 05-09-2008 11:14 PM

2500 was on the title, and is going on mine. only 150 in taxes that way.

apparently the guy he got it from works for a dealer, and he owed him a favor... a very expensive favor.

he bought the bike off him for that much, and im SAYING i bought the bike of him for that much. If i need proof of purchase price for re-sale i still have my bill of sale to clear things up w/ a potential buyer down the road.

Smittie61984 05-09-2008 11:15 PM

I saw it too. Didn't realize what it was until my friends said "Did you see that $150,000" bike? I thought they were referring to some of those gay ass choppers I saw there. Hell I was drooling over the $25,000 Agusta.

If I did have that bike I would tell everyone I ride a F4.

Also one thing I love about Atlanta is it is full of all kinds of people from all over the world. Plus there is a lot of money here so people can fork over big bucks for cool toys. At a local Wednesday night bike night that is actualy 30miles from Atlanta I remember seeing 3 Brand New MV Agustas pulling up along with 4 brand new Ducati 1098s. And you'll see them all in the mountains too. I think I remember seeing a chick on one at a gas station one time before hitting the twisties.
