Longest Multi-day Trip

What is the longest multi-day trip that you have done (days/mileage)? We did 2,900, 13 states, in 8 days.

Amorok 11-14-2008 12:28 AM

Longest I've done so far was Biloxi to Atlanta the first day, then Atlanta to Ashland, KY the second day. Took a day's break then rode back in two days. The worst part was that I rode north through Tropical Storm Fay. Ended up being around 2600 miles total.

derf 11-14-2008 01:54 AM

NJ to key west 2 days, then up to daytona for 5, then back up to NJ 2 more days. 9 days total, 3200 miles

Wasnt that when you were trying to come up to the meet in gettysburg?

Mr Lefty 11-14-2008 02:35 AM

17 days, 4500 miles, 17 states, 15 "old" new friends,80 miles short of an Iron butt, 1 hurricaine, 1 collapsed tent, 1 indy MotoGP Race, a broken engine cover, 3 quarts of oil left in an intersection in Indiana, 1 Uhaul truck rental, a totaled bike, and the best vacation of my life.

JARVIS518 11-14-2008 02:45 AM

daytona florida to albany new york and back drive up took 18 hours got stuck in a snow storm and drove back 2 days later in 16 hours

dont know if that counts or not... not sure the milege either

JARVIS518 11-14-2008 02:48 AM

slightly over 1100 each way

Mr Lefty 11-14-2008 03:03 AM

I LOVE road trips... it's my goal to touch the corners of the US via 2 wheels in the next 6 years...

pickle.of.doom 11-14-2008 04:03 AM

2200+ miles, 7 states, 4 and a half days.

G-Rex 11-14-2008 09:26 AM

24 days. 8,000 miles. 21 states and 4 Canadian provinces.

I rode from Oklahoma City to Key West, Florida, then rode up the Eastern seaboard into Canada, over to Cape Breton on the far east end of Nova Scotia, and then back over Maine through Quebec and Ontario to Chicago, and home.

I take at least 2 weeks off every July for a trip. I've been ALL over on the Busa. :D 46 states, 6 Provinces, and counting. :D

dReWpY 11-14-2008 10:05 AM

10 days 5,000 ish miles i think

i have a 1157 miles in one 24 hour period

unknownroad 11-14-2008 12:01 PM

83 hours, 2736 miles. Coastal SC to LA, via a screwed-up southern route.
5 days, 2796 miles coming back on a central route at a more relaxed pace.

anthonyk 11-14-2008 12:02 PM

A bit over 4000 miles in 9 days last summer. Up to South Dakota and back down. I think I hit 9 states.

Librarian 11-14-2008 01:23 PM

1500 miles, 750 each way, three days going out, two days back, two up, on our '85 K100.

Hey, no flaming. We're newbies.

3 days 500 miles. Grand Rapids to Indianapolis and back to Grand Rapids. Torrential rain about 2/3 of the way down, fucking hurricane the entire way back. At least I got to hang out with 10 cool friends and see a MotoGP race. :dthumb:

RACER X 11-14-2008 02:27 PM

VFR Rider 11-14-2008 11:11 PM

The longest day has been about 480 miles mostly on back lane twisty type roads. Having done that, I am not sure that I see the appeal about doing 1000 in 24. I have no doubt that the FJR would be glad to take me there, but my body would be so cranky afterwards it wouldn't even begin to be funny.

sfarson 11-14-2008 11:35 PM

10 days, 3300 miles, Colorado to North Carolina and back.

Rode a lonely Cherohala at dawn...

Then a lonely Deals Gap shortly after 8:00a...

I've turned in my application probably 12 places. The majority of places just tell me they aren't hiring at all. Been down to the Southwest corner of town that has the mall and most businesses.

Yeah. I have an application for barnes and noble and one for ozark fitness I am turning in tuesday. Then the search continues.

one thing my brother found was the further from town you go the better your chances... for the most part everyone wants a job close to home... so if your willing to travel a bit... you should be able to find something. even if your spending $ on gas... at least it's some income... ya know?

t-homo 11-17-2008 02:19 AM

Yeah. It'd be less of a problem once it starts getting warmer too. Hopefully with it getting close to christmas people will start hiring again.

Just WOW!!!

Here's a couple of pics from my solo trip (it was incredibly fun and liberating to do the trip solo.... so much wonderful freedom!)

Mr Lefty 11-19-2008 05:45 PM

yeah just a note to anyone doing the camping thing... get a TWO MAN tent... those one man tents just don't provide enough room to move around in to change and if it rains more than likely you'll want your gear in with ya... and when rolled up they're only slightly larger. and even if you have to spend $50 more... it's worth it... TRUST ME!

(cruzergirl... that looks like a 1 man but looks much bigger than the one I had... what kind is it?)

I camp'd in AR on my Indy trip... fuck'n tent broke... but at least that means I can return it and get a 2 man tent.

That's 2 man tent. Sierra Designs something or other. Really nice. It looks small because my sleeping bag is HUGE.

1-man tent would not have been big enough. The one I had packed very small as did the sleeping bag so even though my bike looked like I was moving the Clampets (sp?) it wasn't the camping gear taking up all the room.

Invest in good gear. Period. When it rains/snows/monsoons you'll be happy you did. Or. You could just stay at a Holiday Inn.

VFR Rider 11-19-2008 09:11 PM

Having done camping before, I would always look for a tent that is at least a person bigger than the number of people sleeping in it. It totally sucks to have weather kick in and not be able to move around in your tent. It also sucks not having the option to bring gear in the tent if necessary.

I can't do it if it's that early next year... I won't get to Mississippi till March... and have training and shit to go through. what if we did it before Indy and just stopped in Indy the wed before the race and left the day after the race. :idk: I think I could swing that.

Longest trip to day for me so far would be 8800 miles in 9 days, in 2006. Road out to California for work, after work was over I met up with a friend down in San Diego ... then we proceeded to ride from San Diego out to Jacksonville and back in 4 days, completed a loop around SoCal to wrap up 5K in 5 days, saw him off on a border-to-border insanity (I was his Mexico witness), and I road back to Texas.

Longest single day has been 1,515 miles in 23.5 hours, although last weekend I came close to beating that with 1458 miles in 22 hours.

Next year, motorcycle gremlins willing, I'll likely reset both my single day high mileage and longest trip mileage. I have an addiction that only Michelin can slow down. :D

my only problem with packing like this was I was always worried about things coming loose... if they're in my bag I don't worry about them... but when they're strapped to the top and bungee'd i'm constantly worry'n about them :idk: to be honest though... never once had a strap loose or lost anything on the road

Never anything worthwhile. A whopping 600 miles in two days. 150 miles down to visit a friend and take her for a ride. Rode back home the next day. Was talking to my brother and told him where I'd gone and he mentioned that he wanted to go watch a race down that way that night. So hopped on the bikes and went again. Watched the race, went to visit my friend again, then headed back home that night.

but you also had Drewpy to help notice if shit was getting loose... I'd catch a cross wind that make the tarp flap and I'd be like... :wtf: and it'd be in my mind...

once I was riding with Rae, Kat, Trip, and Fatburg... it was weird... even though I was in the back a lot... but I didn't worry bout it.
