4 Door Sedans With Manual Transmission
Seem to be a dying breed. :td: Other than the higher end of the spectrum, there's really not many choices (at least any cars we like). I've been looking around at various models/manufacturers and it seems electronic transmission with paddle shifters are dominant. Pretty disheartening - guess when we are ready to sell the Altima and get a new car in a couple of years we'll be upgrading.
Who has a late model sedan with manual transmission - what do you have? |
We have a Subaru Legacy sedan with a manual transmission. Love that car.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. |

Purchased specifically for use as a backup family car\station car I can get 500+ miles on one tank of gas if I stick to highways. Fully loaded with family...its fast enough. I'm not speeding or driving like a dick with family in the car. A family of long legged tall people If I to replace it with another these are the only "family sedans" left. Honda Accord Ford fusion Volkswagen Passat Hyundai Sonata\Kia Optima Mazda6 Subaru Legacy |

 My first though too I know you said NOT the higher end.....But you can get the 3 series and 5 series BMW's in stick all day long. Used of course...I'd never buy a new "luxury" vehicle http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/ctd/3376753040.html http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/3290700773.html |

I said BMW because I know you can get any of their models (unsure of the SUV's) in manual tranny
Not sure Lexus has ANY 4 doors in manual (except the IS), and Infinity is questionable. I KNOW you can get several acura's in Manual though. Are you gonna buy new this time? |
If you call my 2006 BMW "late model".......But anyways, the shifter is OK but very long-throw.......Also the armrest hits my elbow because of the guido low-slung seating position.
Infiniti, the only one with a stick is going to be the G37.......same motor as you already have Get a TL or TSX, imo... |

I made the mistake of assuming "20K-30K family sedan"
Lee have you tried the Maserati quattroporte or the Porche Panamera? Maybe (if budget is an issue) you can squeak by with a Caddy CTS-v? |
IS-F
we are prob. going to land on a acura TL or she really wants a G37S convert. mid next yr, when we give our lil mazda to Blake she also really like the new CAD ATS, also avail in manual it'll be her car |

Check out a VW GLI too.... or a CC
|
Just checked out the Subarus....now I remember why I blocked them from memory....just not for me.
I think the Lexus IS may be smaller than our current sedan. The G37 would be about the same and since it is the same drive train that would be a bonus as we like it. Will have to see what the Caddy is running. |
caddy fully loaded was $46k
caddy says if your household income is $120k you can afford it! lol we make more and we're thinking used........kekeke |
2000 Subaru Legacy, twin-turbo 2.0L, five speed.
|
Test drove the turbo Kia Optima with a manual yesterday while my soul was in for an oil change. Slick car. Pretty fast for a a car that big...

4 doors with a stick:
Mazda 6 or 3 Ford Focus Most Subaru's VW's most Kia's I'm sure there are more, but that's what I can think of. |
Narrow it down further... demand RWD or AWD.
Admit it...we're all so over FWD. |

I would also suggest Subaru, but since you have ruled them out, then I have no idea what to recommend. Everything else I was looking at, manual and AWD was out of my price range.
|
think lee is in the same boat we're in
wants a nice sedan, has some status, but is still sporty, and reliable TL AWD w/ advanced pkg, Awd is supposed to handle better the plain FWD Cadillac ATS |
Damn you, Cadillac. Why did you have to offer the 6-speed manual on the ATS ONLY mated to the 2.0 Turbo?
I have to say, I'm liking the looks and specs of this car. Not sure what the wife would think, tho. http://media.il.edmunds-media.com/ca..._71312_717.jpg |

you be the gineau pig, and buy one first
yeah D loves the specs, we're not serious to buy till next summer so no rush for us. she still really wants the G37S convert IPL pkg., but it ain't too practical. but she and the kids would look good pulling up to school top down.....lol |

For the record, you are not in the same class as Lee. Not even close. |
Save your money and get the Buick Regal GS. Same motor and a lot cheaper.
|
i agree, i like the way that buick looks, but she still thinks its an old persons car.
at least the cads have the 'latest' styling |

I wouldn't spend big bucks for a car that used the same engine as a cheapshit Cobalt or Saturd. :td: Even the best 4-cyl turbos have tons of lag. Such as the GTI......I tested one and it didn't come alive until like 3000, and then it was too abrupt. Same with the WRX. |
new engine design and all, not the ecotec.
the whole car was on new everything from what i understand. |
Never even heard of this thing... saw one on my way to work...

Lee, we were wasting some time yest. before a movie and stopped by at local CAD dealer
we both really liked the ATS, drove well, quiet, nice shifts, a little smaller inside then i had hoped. my head hit the roof in rear, and really only 2 full sized adults in the back. we drove the V6, 321hp one. it was nice. $45,xxx but yeah, we really liked the car and the one we drove is prob. what we'll get if we get one. w/ the carbon fiber trim and red seats, man that thing was so "US", and i think ya;ll will really like it as well. http://i49.tinypic.com/iy085s.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/2mqstpc.jpg i comes in some "red" or black w/ the C/F trim, while i love black cars, they are impossible to keep clean. maybe a darkish grey would look nice. |

Thanks for the info, Ed.

Red seats? lol, if you're a chick. They'll fade to pink in a few yrs.
|
Quote:
:lol |
OK maybe the seat itself won't, but the cracks will be pink. Just like the cracks in black seats are gray.

Not sure if I missed it (I looked) but the VW's all come in stick
Never been a V-dub fan until I bought my buddies GTI Damn I love that car! |
asked a lady at daycare, would you recommend an A4...............long pause.............hmmm..........thats the answer, you take your chances.
thats seems to be the case w/ audi/vw, hit or miss |

or cuz they had probs. while owning it
she said it did something weird when it gets hot down here. didn't delve into the prob. |
I have no firsthand experience but Audi/VW vehicles are reputed to have electronics that rival Lucas.

From the turbo cars I've driven the mileage sucks if you use the boost. Turbo cars are great for the way the EPA tests though, easy driving not using much boost, so expect to see more of them as CAFE MPG requirements for fleets increase. |
