Track pics from 5/17 are in!

I had to buy 'em because I don't have any pics in action yet plus I managed to shave another 2.4 seconds off my personal best. Pretty proud of it.

Here's the entrance to turn 6. I'm almost at max lean.

Decreasing radius turn 8.

Very fast turn 5 kink right after the back straight. I'm going around 105mph.

And turn 1 right after the 3rd gear front straight.

The dude took 132 pics of me, there's some other good ones, but I just didn't feel like searching through all of 'em. I dig the first one the most. Lean angle looks sick.

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Mr Lefty 05-30-2008 09:23 AM

the 3rd and 2nd would be better if you had a clear visor and could see your eyes...

anyways... you were saying in another thread your body position wasn't what you wanted... but it looks good to me... :idk: what SHOULD it look like? what are you doing wrong?

Common problem everyone has, head is too high and a little centered. Getting your upper body right is hard.

Mr Lefty 05-30-2008 09:30 AM

ahh ok... just trying to get an idea of what's right...

needless to say it's a WHILE before I'll be nearing drag'n a knee

It doesnt take that long once you start riding somewhere it's easily possible and you get your body positon correct. We got OSP really close at the gap this past weekend. One more trip across without his massive luggage and I think he would of gotten it down. You should be able to do it in Colorado.

Mr Lefty 05-30-2008 09:44 AM

yeah I figure I will... though I'm hope'n for Mississippi now...

Well you can meet us at Tally/Nashville/Jennings and get a knee down.

Mr Lefty 05-30-2008 10:18 AM

that's my plan ;)

Here's mine. My first day on the new bike, so I was getting used to the engine braking. You can see I'm not even trail braking in most of the pics. I need to get some stomp grips too... I nearly fell off the bike a few times.

Same corners as D, for comparison.

Mr Lefty 05-30-2008 12:02 PM

PIMP!

if you ever get custom leathers... get them just the opposite of your bike...

Yeah, but when you have more experience, you don't have to do it exactly by the book. Those are just basics to work from. My position in the pics is comfortable for me. My only issue is that I still weight my arms from time to time. I need to work on using my legs to hold me on the bike more and use practically no weight on my arms.

Our form is very similar, Kurt.

That happens alot with gays like yourselves.

PiZdETS 05-30-2008 02:57 PM

Badass pics, you look like a pro.

Usually, my upper body is over a bit more... I realized after I looked at the pics on Saturday that I wasn't moving as much because I felt like my legs were sliding off the bike. The combination of the slicker seat and the lack of stomp grips was throwing me off. I nearly smashed my nuts a few times trying to hold onto the tank while braking.

Anyway, you're getting much better D. You should save up and do a school, IMO. You won't learn much more from following people like me around anymore.

The guy's on point. Only like, literally, two shots were off center out of 8,100 he took that day.

Seems the photos of me from the track are never taken at the right moments. And there are only like 20 of each person by the end of the day. It's like WTF.

DLIT 06-06-2008 05:19 PM

I got 132 pics. I suggested that the guy snaps some people under heavy braking so you can their hands, feet and overall position. Plus the compressed suspension looks kickass. He said he'll try it next weekend, but I'm not riding. Too fucking hot.

Oh yeah! I'll be in MA on the 24th, what's up?

Yeah heavy braking photos are sweet.... forks WAY down, rear tire just skimming along. Makes sense why your arms get sore.

Our prof photog put up photos from those two days... fuckin' like 12 photos of me... none of them amazing. It's like wtf. The people in the stands zooming way in taking pics for their buddies are getting better shots of me than that.

MA on the 24th of June? I'll be around dude. Let's meet up this time.

judging by these pics, sponsoring DLIT might be the smartest move Vortex could make. seriously, these are nice pics.

what exactly is a decreasing radius?

easiest way to say would probably be "a turn that gets tighter as u go around it"

anyone disagree?

You outta Florida, but you were there? How so?

Decreasing radius: Google that shit. But Dnyce is correct.

Ya, that looks killer. I was working on nailing some curbing at my trackday on Tuesday to find my line though a double apex turn at my track. at first It was a bit diffucult because I was so used to taking the wrong entry and line:panic:

Cutty72 07-05-2008 12:42 AM

I don't like getting that close to the curbing, cause at BIR, it's not really puck friendly. It's like little speed bumps along the inside of the track, could rip your leg off.

Same with the other track we have near Vegas. You could proly do it, but they're gnarly.

zortness 07-05-2008 12:38 PM

Yea, the curbs are nice at LVMS. They're not even sawtoothed. Pahrump, on the other hand, has some big ass curbs. I still hit them with my knee, but I'm not all the way on top of them like I am at LVMS, I've seen a few people catch their footpegs on the curbs and take a geology tour.

Oh yea. How come you were out at LVMS with us and you didn't even come up and say hi?!?! We even had food!

Speedracer170 07-06-2008 03:06 PM

I was TDY out there for a month, if I would of knew yall then I would of came up and talked

I was thinking about it but I didn't have any of my gear and I didn't have $2500 deposit just to rent one. Maybe next time
