We now have a signed Ted Lindsey puck for the silent auction.. I rode the route yesterday and I made some tweaks via Google Maps today - I am very happy with the route.. Looking like great weather and getting great responses.. Should be a great turnout.. Don't miss a great ride.. If you are within 100 miles head on out.. No freeway riding on this route..
|
details are 100% finalized.. all systems go.. weather report is good - 79 with times of cloud and sun.. looking forward to a great event and seeing some of you out there..

Anyone that wants to donate to the cause can send via paypal to me at:
mudpuppy@wideopensportbikes.com Just mark it with "Ride for Jay Donation" Thanks for your support. |
OK... if I can drag my, midnight working ass out of bed, I will be going. Just to hook up with the WOS peeps and to support a good cause.
|
Got an address and pay-to-the-order-of for mail-in donations (I don't have a paypal account). I think this is a great thing you are doing. My uncle contracted ALS and it was devastating to him AND the family.
Horrible disease. My hat is off to you, sir. |
Sorry guys, cant make it, the wife booked us on a weekend wine tasting tour. :panic:
|
So far my Friday night don't look too bad... so hopefully I can get up that early!
MP... you going early or normal time? Could meet up with ya off 275. |
OTB - PM sent and thank you. We have been wanting to do something like this for awhile and this cause made it happen.
Rider - sorry to hear that. Hope to meet up with you soon. Gasman - I am going to be at Novi Bowl at 8am for a pre-ride meeting. I would love to have you be a lead rider or a sweeper as I know your riding abilities and I can trust you in either capacity. So if you want to meet up and ride over there together or just meet there at 8am either is fine let me know. We are doing a dry run of the route tomorrow night. Going to mark the route. We are roughly a day away. Weather is looking good. Hoping to see some of you out there. Its summer time to get out and ride. |
Well I will help if needed. Not sure about lead sense I don't know the route. But more than happy to sweep if needed. Wouldn't be my first time rangling that rodeo.
I just checked the weather and now the bastards are saying 60% thunderstorms. So who the fuck knows. If I don't make it due to weather, I will just donate via PayPal. Would obviously prefer to ride it... |
Fuck faces are still calling 60% of thunderstorms after 9am. Dit ain't gud!
Will check again in the early am |
Mud... PM me your number... not sure its the same as the old one I could dig up.
|
What I looked up tonight said no t-storms until 1pm-ish, and by that time we will be at the park which will have some shelter, and its only supposed to be a quick one that passes through.
|
Yeah that's what I am seeing now.
Will check again in am |

PM sent - sorry its so late just getting on here now going to bed.
|
The cleaning sucks on the chrome beast....
|
Yeah well, it sucks... I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.
Weather man just moved it to 70% chance, some shit just left here, there's damn red near, maybe just north, of the ride spot. There is a storm cell coming across the lake and heading this way. I don't think its a matter of if more as to when its going to storm like hell. Normally I would have never even got up after seeing the 60% but I really wanted to make this just for Mud's backing of the ride. But I don't feel like getting wet and being tired (fuckin midnights, just went to bed at 3). So I'm going to bow out, go bk to bed, and I guess go work at my bro's property and new house later. Gee, no riding in exchange for working... WOW now that's screwed!!! Sorry Mud... hopefully you all stay dry. I'll paypal my ride fee anyway. |
Weather is good first group is getting ready to roll - come on out and join us
|
Yeah shit... I was sleeping when you posted that.
Well hopefully nobody got wet. I know I did at the bro's property hanging siding... twice as a matter of fact. I knew if I didn't ride it wouldn't rain. That's my luck. Was there a nice turn out? When did it end? That was my biggest thing. Especially sense I got soaked shortly after lunch down here. |

The event was a complete success execution wise, ride wise, no mechanical issues, no crashes. Everyone loved the route we took - it was a nice easy back road route around a couple of lakes and through Gregory, Stockbridge, Northfield, etc. Wasn't a usual WOS weekend Twisty Assault but that wasn't the intention of the ride. Unfortunately the weather scared alot of people off. We ended up with 17 bikes - 6 from WOS. The day started out with a very nice spread at Novi Bowl. They had muffins, bagels, donuts, coffee, juice, etc. They were gracious enough for us to use their bar for registration. We sent the first group out around 9:45am. Second group followed around 10:30am. Weather was great for the ride. The bbq at the park was great as well. The only key missing ingredient was attendance. Those that attended included members from Redline, DSB, bikerornot forum and some family and friends. I took some pictures and I will post them up when I get time to get them off my camera. Bottom line it was a great event which we are going to repeat in the next 4-6 weeks. We are going to team up with some additional people and we are going to do some additional advertising. We already have 99% of the supplies since we had to be ready today for up to 100-200 bikes. So that part of the expense is already spent might as well do it again. So keep posted for more details to come. We learned alot from our first attempt at pulling off such an event and we are going to put it to good use. If anyone would still like to donate you can do so via paypal to: mudpuppy@wideopensportbikes.com Just mark it "Ride for Jay Donation". |
Well i look forward to seeing the pics. Sorry to be one of the guys to bail on account of the weather.
Did you get my donation via PayPal? I "added" a couple extra bucks sense I didn't attend. Hope it goes to good use. |

I'll bring the chop to a bike wash... but the first person that puts water on it... gets a piece off the end of my glock! I'll even pay to NOT have it washed
