GPS recomendations
Since I dont own a smartphone I am lookin gat getting a gps for the GT prior to the rally. Was kicking around the zumos but are a bit pricey. been reading about people using the nuvis on thier bikes with mixed success.
Any thoughts/recomendations based on what you guys have/use |
I picked up a zumo 550 off craigslist for $300, just need to add the motorcycle mount which is gonna cost me another $50 with the electrical hook up.
Took me 4 days of search through all the craigslist within 250 miles |

I hear ya on costs... YIKES. I bought my zumo 660 for about that much in money as well. Then another $130 for specialized mount.
Now I'm looking at another $275+ to wire it completely into the HD. Using the HD headset for a phone microphone as it's bluetoothed to the GP and allowing the GPS to be primary audio regardless of what I'm doing in the HD system. Then plumbing in my blackberry for additional audio in. Who knows... |

I picked up a Magellan Crossover refurbed for $225 a couple years ago. While not bike specific it is weather tight (meant to be used on boats and in hiking as well as automotive) they can behad fairly cheap.

I use a Garmin 60Cx. No complaints!

wife bought a nuvi something or other. no bike mount or wiring yet... have to work on that.

I am kinda figuring on biting the bullet and getting a zumo, now my next thing is getting a bluetooth headset for the helmet. Not sure where to start on that one.

you won't regret getting a Zumo, it's nice to have one that works so well with gloves. |

Here's a Zumo for $399. Looks like a basic model, but it's new.

Why do you guys go sena vs autocom? Just for bluetooth?

Sound quality vs autocom system of the same cost is not even close. |
Doesn't the autocom have the best sound out?

Well idk first hand. I'm gg off what adam at rocket moto said when I spoke to him.

He said sena was good as well. Said he sells way more sena but he thought autocom was better in sound quality. But that most buy the sena for the bluetooth. Again HE SAID.

I have bought a ton of helmet speakers and in ear options, including autocom/starcom1/sena/shure and Sena is the only one I have found that I really like. I have a Sena kit for plugging in your own headset option too. I really want to try custom molded, but haven't taken that step yet. |
So it's yet another time when you wish you could merge multiple products.

If I ever get custom molded earphones, I already have the setup to support those too, with the Sena. The Sena's are the shit. |
