I dont have the Balls...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KycZk1M7g24
I barely go over 40 when the roads are wet...this guy is Drifiting it into the corners hard on the brakes. Guys got skill. |
Thats sick.... I am not afraid to go fast in a straight line I just wont lean in the rain... it must be funny watching me ride in the rain because the bike stays completely vertical..... BTW I lust over that new Fireblade that thing is soooo sick.
|
Im the same way...Leaning is a BIG no no when its wet...I put my feet down sometimes to for extra balance...I'm not a fan of wet riding AT ALL

I have drug knee in the rain at JGP and again at Barber, once on the GSXR, once on the KTM. DOT's have an amazing amount of grip in the wet, plus the further off the bike you are the better in the rain.

man that looks like fun-
|
i was drifting into some corners on friday during the trip to indy. very scary/fun
|
that is definitely riding on the edge.. amazing.. i don't mind the rain too much.. its all in the tires.. did a track day at mid-ohio and it poured rain.. had the wrong tires and came close to paying the price for it.. did one at vir and it rained in the morning had better rain tires and other than the oak tree last turn it wasn't bad at all..
|
I'd push my bike that hard if I wasn't the one paying for it when it got wadded up.

riding hard in the rain is fun you just need to hang off well and stay relaxed and smooth.
With good tires you can do most things almost as hard as you can in the dry (braking, accelerating, and turning)... but you just CAN'T do any of them at the same time :dthumb: |
Smooth being the operative term.

Also, a couple suspension clicks here and there are appropriate for track riding in the wet. I think my buddy said he backs out the rebound damping a few clicks, kinda forget though. Lastly... making sure you 'set' the front end and get the tire squatted before getting hard on the binders is imperative to not lock up the front under braking. |
Rain riding is fun as long as your on track...On the city streets there is just to much residue and slime from the traffic...Country highways can be ok if it is a downpour...enough to wash off the cow crap and oil residue. Here in AR yuo get wash out spot though that ends the fun awful quick.
Your right on with the rebound. You want the bike to be soft at both ends and let the suspension travel. Smooth on the controls and you'll be suprised what lean angles you canget away with...You want to lean your body more and the bike less and then just trust your tires... |
^yup... dragging knee in the rain for the first time was an eye-opening experience for me... pretty cool :D
|
That guy's asshole will never, ever, ever pucker.
|
lets see some knee dargging action pix in the rain...otherwise it's all blah blah balh. hahah seriously, props if you can...i'm a wuss...conditions gotta be right for me to go edge to edge.

As good a time as any to jump in... The guy in the video is riding the wheels off that bike. Traction control helps him on the exits but he is balls out on some of those corner entries. :rockout: Me dragging in the rain at JenningsGP: http://cdn-9.psndealer.com/e2/dealer...-08%203400.jpg |
Sean, you are still a squid!

Nice shot shmike... looks like the rain wasn't heavy but the ground still pretty wet? That's a fun time to be on the track.
I hate when the conditions are in-between... don't want to cook those rains, and also not very confidence-inspiring. |
Wait...Bikes Have TC???

|
Yup saw that race...those WSBK riders can fukkin ride in the rain.
|
When the roads are wet I like to break the rear tire loose a little and slide it around to one side when going straight... No fucking way I'd have the balls to push it like that in a corner...

Article on TC in Moto GP--- http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_0...ogp/index.html There is traction control on street bikes as well.... comes stock on Ducati 1098R.
