important water wetter?

i have water wetter in my bike, its supposed to drop below freezing, do i need to pull the pig inside tonight?

jeeps84 10-27-2008 09:13 PM

If you have room, Yes. Other wise it should be fine. Not that cold.

dReWpY 10-27-2008 09:22 PM

we were told 26 degrees was the low, and we have room...

If you don't want it inside. Its not tat cold for that long but will need some antifreeze soon. Water weter has very lil freeze protection. It can stand bumping in those numbers for a few hours (over night) but not all the time.

psychochild28 10-27-2008 09:57 PM

Low is 32. maybe feeling like 26 but acutal temp is supposed to be 32.:idk: it's in a garage and we're gonna throw a cover/blanket over it but it's staying there.

 we call that a Command Decision

you could always start the bike and run it for a bit just before you go to bed... and it'll cool over night... and limit the amount of time it sits at ambient temp

Dave 10-27-2008 10:21 PM

or just grab a space heater...

psychochild28 10-27-2008 10:28 PM

what kind of antifreeze does he need to put in the bike? He's going to change out the water wetter tonight. (he doesn't have to work anymore)

dReWpY 10-27-2008 10:35 PM

master chief has spoken!!! so will any 50/50 blend coolant work?

Gas Man 10-28-2008 05:47 PM

You can run 50/50 but the 50% H2O needs to be distilled.

Word! distilled water is about a dollar at the super market and you can get any aluminum-safe antifreeze in the auto section.

DLIT 10-29-2008 05:53 PM

Just replace it with Engine Ice. It won't freeze and it cools better than a 50/50 mix. $20 per jug. My bike only takes one jug.

Mr Lefty 10-29-2008 05:58 PM

why distilled water? I've always used tap water in my truck and never... NEVER had any issues with my cooling system apart from a couple thermostats (8 years old at least) and a 4x4 going through the center of my radiator... but I don't think that had anything to do with the tap water :idk:

what's the freezing temp of engine ice Dlit?

Engine Ice doesn't freeze. Period.

DIMford 10-29-2008 06:46 PM

But is Engine Ice track safe?

well everything has a freezing point... but I got ya... so what's the draw backs? is it slick like antifreeze?

Not race legal.

Ok for most track days.

uh, yeah it does. It's still 50% distilled water. Most antifreezes have lower freeze points. It's freeze point is like -26 F, so unless you race antartica you are safe.

Yep, just checked their site and it says -26*

The 50% water is actually a benefit... a mixture of 50% water and 50% coolant has a lower freezing temperature than 100% coolant.

Gas Man 10-31-2008 12:12 AM

Oh yeah for sure... Cyclelogic Engine Ice is the best shit out IMHO

Ebbs... if you read your owners manual... it always says distilled only. It has to do with corrosion and shit and the alum system.

Emphasise the distilled water, tap is BAD for RC's. The water pump impeller is made out of plastic, and the impurities in tap water will destroy it.

Ebbs, the difference between his Honda and your truck are that his bike is a homologation race bike with a plastic water pump impeller and your truck is a truck with a metal impeller.

.
