A little something to set my bike apart, part 1.

Got a buddy here in Vegas that just picked up a '09 red/white R6. The thing about it is that it's the only one that comes with black forks. Good thing is that he only intends to race it and couldn't care less what color forks he has, so he's gonna swap my gold ones for his black ones. Reason is because my gold ones don't even come close to matching my gold wheels.

So here's the bike as it sits now. COme Friday at 2pm it'll have the new black ones on it and I'll get the before/after pics up. The black ones will totally complete the looks and set the bike apart from the rest a bit.

nice... so there was no diffrence in spring rate or dampening on them just color? weird

DLIT 11-25-2008 09:21 PM

How is it weird, they're both stock forks. It would make sense they're rated the same.

neebelung 11-25-2008 09:57 PM

Oh fuck!

You're not contemplating getting rid of the gold RIMS, are you?????????????????

(cus I'd want them, if you did).

it's weird cause usually they use the same colored forks unless it's on a "limited" or special edition bike... where they have some sort of advantage... :idk:

DLIT 11-25-2008 10:16 PM

Wheels are staying. I still have the Anny wheels for track, too.

Gas Man 11-25-2008 10:20 PM

That will look better

neebelung 11-25-2008 10:20 PM

Ah well it was worth asking

shmike 11-25-2008 10:51 PM

Good call.

I think it will really complete the look of the black bike.

It should have come that way from the factory.

Lucky for you, it didn't. :dthumb:

Amber Lamps 11-25-2008 11:00 PM

yea a kid here did the same thing. He works at Ron Ayers and some knuckle head wrecked his R6 so he quick swapped the forks before the salvage man came...

I know you are shopping exhausts but I'd consider powdercoat or high temp black painting that canister immediately! The gold on the forks may have been a little off but that silver is totally alone and out of place on that bike! Oh and don't forget the rearsets, although I'm sure that you won't! Man,nice looking bike Dlit!!!

Thanks, man. Can will be next year probably. Rearsets, too. CF and black, respectively.

OneSickPsycho 11-26-2008 08:52 AM

I thought you were going with the cock exhaust?

marko138 11-26-2008 08:58 AM

Love it. Post pics when finished.

DLIT 11-26-2008 10:19 AM

Trying to get 'em today instead of Friday, so pics may be a lot sooner, hopefully.

EriksonFL 11-26-2008 01:35 PM

I've wanted to do the same thing. The gold doesn’t match anything on the 08.
I agree with Tigger paint the can. Best 8 bucks I every spent.

ceo012384 11-26-2008 01:35 PM

Nice dude... that will look much better. It bugged me how the wheels and forks didn't match. I like my black forks.

They're going to be getting some work done on em, too ;)

Nope... diff colors, diff color forks. From 06+, they have had black forks and gold forks to go with the diff colored bikes.

z06boy 11-26-2008 02:01 PM

The forks and wheels look like they match in the first pic but if they don't as you stated then I agree...black tubes will look alot better imho.

Painting the stock can sounds like a winner too. I may do that on the wife's R6.

Truth. Those wheels don't match a goddamn thing. But the black can is tough.

they match the rearsets at least.....

Homeslice 11-29-2008 05:18 PM

Did you paint those rearsets? I thought stock were just silver.

EriksonFL 11-29-2008 09:54 PM

I painted them. I love that color and just need to find out how to powder coat them that color because my Sidi's keep chipping them.

You should have mumbled obscenities under your breath anytime you were off camera.

So when do we get to see this interview?

I agree the wheels on the R1 and R6 don't looks that good in the gold. What's interesting is the FZ1 for 08 has gold wheels that are a lighter, more "gold" color and while they still don't match the color of the fork tubes, they're a better looking gold.
