The bike MSRP at $2999. The exhaust is like $200, the rear shock is about the same, big bore kit installed $600.

vabarber2 03-14-2008 07:32 PM

Congrats! What kind of #'s will that thing put out??

NONE_too_SOFT 03-14-2008 07:39 PM

15 bhp at the chain is my guess.

fnfalman 03-14-2008 07:43 PM

Supposedly it'll hit 60MPH with a full tuck and a slight downgrade.

NONE_too_SOFT 03-14-2008 07:45 PM

and the right lunar phase.

azoomm 03-15-2008 12:37 AM

Heeeyyy that looks like AF1 - I was JUST there testing things out... wheeeeeeee

Mistress Maygin 03-15-2008 04:31 AM

Aww, it's cute! Does the little fella have a name?

fnfalman 03-15-2008 10:17 AM

Yes, azoomm, it's from AF1 Racing. She'll be ready to travel by 21 Mar and should get me by the week after that. AF1 is where I get all my Aprilia stuff at. They know me by name there.:pat:

And MistressMaygin, it's not a little fella, it's a bella donna and her name is Angelina. "I eat antipasta twice just because she was so nice, Angelina. Angelina, waitress at the pizzaria"

Should be kneedraggable after scrubbing the tires in, of course. It's a racing scooter after all. There's this dude in the 'hood that has a big bore Italjet and he thought that he was hot shit. I'll show'im soon enough. THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!

AF1 is only, like, uh, 1500-miles away...it would be rough to ride that thing back.

Depending on the work load, I might be able to make the pilgrimage to AF1's open house in May. I don't know if you've gone there for it, but they have a great open house weekend.

So, are ya gonna tell us what sort of pasta rockets you're riding or you're gonna make us fantasize a wee bit?

pfffffft, it's ONLY 1500 miles. :lmao: Kidding... kidding....

I've been going to AF1 since they split from Jay. :) I have a 998 and 748 that are track whores and a 1994 M900 that is being re-created. You will certainly have to let me know if you are making that pilgrimage....

fnfalman 03-15-2008 10:46 AM

So what you need is a real Italian stallion - something in the order of a 5.5 SXV supermoto!!! I was contemplating one of those too but I simply have to have a scooter.

I've already talked to the boys about it. Micah has told me what a bad salesman he is, he talked me out of it :lmao: I want something new-to-me that will keep the speeds down on the street - after being on the track as much as I am, I have zero self control. The priller-super-motos aren't going to be an answer for that, they will just end up on the track.

Right now, thinking the KTM is going to be the answer to that question.

Cutty72 03-15-2008 11:26 AM

so how many does this make for ya in the stable??

fnfalman 03-15-2008 11:36 AM

Only four in the stable.

You know that there is a scooter racing league, right? It's loads of fun. I'm gonna see if there's one in SoCal. Imagine taking a go-kart track corner at 45 or 50-MPH in one of these little suckers.

NONE_too_SOFT 03-15-2008 12:06 PM

theres a racing leauge for practically anything with a motor.

law mowers, golf carts... hell people have been known to race big wheels!

It's been picked up on Monday 24 March. Knock on wood, I "should" get it by Friday. It is going to look a bit different than the posted photos. Ed has another that has more red and that's the one I'm getting.

fnfalman 03-28-2008 05:18 PM

Yesssss!!!!! She's Here!!!

My Angelina just came to me and she's sooooo pretty!!!

Alas, I only got'er up to 50 MPH with a full tuck. I need to lose more weight.:panic:

AF1 Racing just informed me that the Aprilia Racing rear shock is in stock and a set coming to me. The big bore kit should follow. Yeah!!! It's time to go hunting for that neighborhood punk and his Italjet. I'll show'im who's the boss.

fnfalman 03-29-2008 02:45 PM

This is the actual scooter. I wanted one with more red, so this is the one I got shipped. It's kinda scary going fast into a corner. I think that I took a corner at about 25-MPH but that's about it. Still got about 1" of chicken strip left. The brakes are quite ferocious, stopping the scooter to a dead halt from top speed with ease. The handling is actually rather stable, it's just that the suspension has zero play and the smallish wheels are squirrelly.

too funny, bring that thing to the gap, that would be hilarious.

I could have a good time on that thing, hell anything with two wheels I can have a good time on including cruisers.

This puts a whole new definition on the term "crotch scooter."

Oh Hell yeah! I have a KTM, it came with a KTM pen and bottle opener, it should have come with anodized orange handcuffs. The thing is more fun than anything with less than 60hp has a right to be. You don't want an SVX, they've got serious reliability issues (so I have heard from a friend of mine who's the manager of a local 'priller shop that wont sell SVX's)

I did a film run down US129 in GA (My little secret road). I left with a couple friends following me, as we passed an intersection at the outside of town a guy on a silverwing scooter pulled out behind us. I got to a gas station at the other end of the mountain, pulled in, grabbed a coke and waited. One of my friends showed up, then the scooter went by, then the rest of my friends got there.

fnfalman 03-29-2008 06:54 PM

The SXV did have some mechanical issues with the first year's release. People need to remember that it's a full on race bike and not watered down even in streetable form. So, maintenance has to be on time, exact and scrupulous with the SXV.

Very true! The SXV is very maintanence intensive.

I don't think that you can wheelie on that thing. Maybe on a 125 or a 250-cc with more oomph, but I just don't know how I can make this thing go up mono. Maybe I can bounce the front end or something...

:bs:

The youtube page title is "wheelie with my sr 50 r"

It's ALL about body position! I used to wheelie this little quad with a certrifical clutch that way. It's actually a lot of fun, because if you fuck up you're doing 15mph instead of 65mph.

You're right. Upon closer examination, it is a 50-cc but it doesn't look like my SR50 though.

As far as why I'm getting a moped? Why ask why? It's a fun little runabout. I can break the speed limit and a copy probably wouldn't bat an eye.

PhiSig1071 04-02-2008 05:09 PM

I wouldn't mind having one, I'd run around the neighborhood, hell I work a mile from my house, I'd ride it to work. Not to mention that it'd be a good pit bike! Honestly, I would have gotten the yamaha one with the fat tires so it'd be a little better in the dirt/pits at JGP or an MX track.
