Good deal or not?

Went browsing on Saturday in between tornadoes, and spent some time at a local Aprilia / Ducati / Honda / Kawasaki dealer. A 2007 S4RS caught my eye, and I talked to the salesman about it. List is $14,995. He gave me a "I've gotta get rid of it before I can get a 2008" price of $13,300. At the time, I thought it was a hell of a deal. Perusing other prices online, it still seems like a great deal. Any opinions? OBTW, the bike was the red stripe, white body, white wheel combo, which is dead sexy.

marko138 03-17-2008 03:47 PM

Sweet bike. Buy it.

Rider 03-17-2008 04:06 PM

Why don't you already own this bike?

Sadly enough, it involves a vagina and my attachment to it.

Walk in the door... "Baby, look what followed me home today!!! :)"

ceo012384 03-17-2008 05:27 PM

Sick bike.... buy that shit. It's a good deal, too.

If she doesn't like it, use it to drag her down the road until she changes her mind.

yeah that's the downfall of every man - the knife wound, the gash, pink taco, etc. etc. its a bitch..

i always think if i wasn't building an army of kids that it would have been alot easier to skip all the bullshit and head to canada once a week to get a different hooker for $150, do my business and call it good... the rest of the week i could do whatever the fuck i want and not worry about all the hassle..

good luck with the bike.. no idea what kind of deal that is.. seems like you could press him to around $12k if he really wants to clear it out for 2008 models..

DLIT 03-20-2008 12:42 AM

Get an insurance quote too. Add that to your budgeting. If you haven't already.

Insurance is no problem, being an old married guy with a spotless driving record. $359 per year from Progressive. I'm still waffling. Buy the bike, or pay off my car. Buy the bike, or add to savings. Buy the bike, or add to the daughter's college fund. Damn salesman. I should punch him in the mouth for throwing that price at me.

lauralynne 03-20-2008 07:40 PM

she'll get over it - buy the bike.

No! And I never want to hear of the subject again.

Seriously, the responsible financial decision prevailed. I ain't buying shit till I can pay cash money for it, homey. Right decision? Yes. Boring decision? Yes again.

Nah. Wife couldn't care less. No skin off her back regardless of what I buy.

My avatar is an x-ray of my fixator I had on my broken tib and fib. Without the x-ray, it looked like this:

Why? You crash it and the insurance company pays it off... That's pretty much my plan moving forward.

Get it right... I'm planning on scamming my credit card company...

And obviously my plan isn't to crash new bikes.

Trust me, you don't.

The whole finance thing is what got me. I can afford the bike, but I would rather save the money and pay cash later. Pretty hard to do when I have a Capital One "auto loan" packet laying on my desk good for up to $14,500. I didn't think I had this much self control. I guess I'm getting old.

:idk: financing isn't all bad, as long as you are smart about it.

Nah, but I can wait a year and pay cash money. If I financed the whole thing, the payment plus insurance would only be about $320 per month. But I promised myself I would not go in debt for something I don't really need. I am going to have to burn that blank check laying on my desk. I only have so much self control. I may just buy a disposable beater this spring, then go big next year. That's what I did last year, and I didn't lose a penny.

Anyone read the new cycle world? has a diesel KLR that the military has been using that is supposed to be in production in the next year or so. I think it said it gets like 125 mpg or something like that.

Yeah, that bikes been around about a year. The article I read last year said that it got around 95 mpg. The performance was horrible, even compared to a stock KLR. With the price of diesel, it would have to get 100 mpg + to be salable.

No Worries 04-03-2008 05:33 PM

If I had to have a Ducati Monster, I would get a 1996 model and save myself $10K. For a decade or more they didn't change much. Then I would learn how to adjust the valves and keep the dry clutch quiet.

6doublefive321 04-04-2008 05:24 PM

Update.. going to look at this bitch hog tomorrow. Its about a gazillion miles closer than Louisville.

You can leave that shit around with the keys in it there. No chrome and a short wheelbase, no one in that city would want it

I brought the 625 home on Thursday. Freaking weather turned to shit here, so I haven't been able to ride much. I will say this, the bike begs you to ride like a douche. Literally begs you.
