New bike in the garage.
But it's for the wifey. Man, I was REAL impressed when I first saw one of these in person yesterday! I was shocked at how awesome they looked. Very impressed. I put a deposit down on it and I'm gonna ride it home for her tomorrow. I'm gonna check with one guy on our local forum to see if he could beat the deal at this one place. They want $5,000 OTD. I was a little shocked at that. Either way, it'll be paid off in less than two years. I'm real excited for her and I can't wait to drive it home tomorrow! She got the green one.

nevermind that was a 2007.
5000 seems way too steep though |
Congrats!!!!!! Oh how fun.... we tested those in Daytona, and had a BLAST on them.
|
Cant see the pic. What is it?

msrp is 3500, 5000 is ridiculous IMO She will have a blast on that thing for sure. Tell her congrats. |

Tax, freight, assembly, doc fee, etc...

5K OTD?? Seems a little much.
|
I think the other guy might get it down to around $4400 OTD. Gotta call him today...

Oh yeah and I bet if you bought drewpy a one way ticket back from vegas, he'd ride it out. That would be cheaper than shipping. |
As soon as she gets use to this bike Dlit, buy a full exhaust and rejet it. That will bring the animal out of this bike. It's really held back stock.
|
Not too worried about it now. I told them they should throw a Yosh slip-on in the deal. You know, jokingly, but to see if they bite. No dice. We're getting $100 gift certificate though. That's IF the price can't be beat. If it can, I'm gonna go get my deposit back and that might make them go lower.
|
Those things are nice. Our dealer just got one in. Congrats to the wife
|
Cool little bike...congrats to you and her. My wife rides and it's pretty cool.
Good luck on a better price though. |
Sweet bike man. But seriously hold out. $5000 out the door is freakin horrible. Forget a Yosh exhaust with that. They need to throw in some KY lube.
The demand isn't that high on them to get that kind of price. Wait a few weeks and do some research. Shop around. The internet is your friend man. I know you both love that bike, but thats no reason to pay such a crazy high price for it. |
Wow... that much over MSRP? No way. Not for something financed... no freakin' way. And, especially not for a ninja250.
www.woodsfuncenter.com Give them a call. Hell, even to have it DELIVERED it shouldn't be that much. |

AWESOME!!! Cant wait to see her getting around on that thing, make sure and get her on here with us other ladies!!
And yeah, I'm with everyone else, thats seems VERY extreme!! Especially for a 250, my 06 was still only $3500 and I bought it brand new in January of 06. |

No, I sent off for a quote from Honda East Toledo to see what they sell the 250s for. If I end up with another, it's probably going to a be a Rebel 250 or a dual sport/trail bike. I think if mine ever decides to get serious about riding she would rather a cruiser than a sportbike. Still got a year before she will even consider it though, her parents would filet her. So she is going to wait til we are married. |
DLIT,
I know some joints in Socal that are selling them OTD for around $3900-4000!!! Don't get ass raped by that fucking stealership!!! Try to call Advance Kawasaki. http://www.advancedkawasaki.com/ and OTD Cycle Sports http://www.otdcyclesports.com/ OTD has a conglomerate of several warehouse dealerships that have low overheads and they are willing to wheel and deal for the best prices. I was at Bert's Mega Mall last night (a stealership) and I saw three on the floor. They're going fast but not that fast. BTW, the red one looks HAWT!!! I hope that you haven't signed shits yet. Come on, dude, ask around next time. We won't let a forum member gets fucked by a stealership. |
I guarantee you can get one here for under $4K OTD Round trip plane ticket from Fargo to Vegas is like $200
So buy a ticket, fly up here, and ride it back. You still come out ahead |

I'll go in and talk to Woods if you want - they generally aren't my choice of dealership, they are kind of the WalMart of dealerships around here (all Japanese bikes). But, I know some people up the food chain there... so if I can help let me know. Hell, with delivery companies now shipping bikes more often it shouldn't ever happen. |
Yeah... It's like with the new Buell
MSRP is $11,995 I hear a lot of people paying 12,500 - 14,000! No way would I do that... under MSRP or it's not gonna happen. |
damn DLit... you won't pay $25 for a T-Shirt, or $45 for that picture of rossi... with out haggle'n... but you'll pay 5G's for the new 250?
|
I pulled a fast one on 'em earlier. They called to se when I was gonna pick it up. I told them that I was gonna come by to pick up the deposit, not the bike. I told them a riding buddy works at a dealership and he quoted me at $4,400 OTD (didn't really happen). He takes a pause and says he'll call me back. Calls back and says he can match it. Badass. So now I'm gonna call up the place that my riding buddy works at and see if they can beat $4,400 OTD. He's not really a riding buddy, but I've just seen him around alot and tagged along with him at times. I'm calling them now...
|
That's the manipulitive DLit I remember...
|
I woulda said $4000 OTD. :tt:
|
It seems to be working. I just called and they said they'd beat $4,400 OTD. Only thing is, I have to go all the way across town to their shop to get the quote and possibly ride it home. The riding it home isn't the bad thing. So now, I'm gonna call the original place and tell them the other place said they'll beat $4,400. Let's see what they say...
|
your gonna make up the price in phone bills
|
They wouldn't say if they would or wouldn't go below $4,400. But I do have a 48 hour hold on the bike which ends Friday. I'm gonna go down to the one place and see how much lower they'll go. If it's not much lower, I'm gonna stick with the original place because they're throwing in a $100 gift certificate.
|
Nice work so far D
|
Nice bike, nice work negotiating so far. I actually considering picking one up just to get back on two (and get the gas mileage) but don't think I'd enjoy a 250 after having the R6.
|
congrats to wifey and good luck with the negotiations.
|
for a one way ticket, i would so ride a bike out to vegas...
if you can get it for 3XXX would you be interested in something like that? |
I saw $5k for a 250 :skep:
But you're headed the right direction now:dthumb: It is a hot little bike! |

Well, we went with the $4,400 OTD price. It's my wife's money and that's what she wanted to do. honestly, driving across to the other side of town in rush-hour traffic isn't worth an extra $100 anyway. We got a $100 gift certificate to the parts department there anyway. I just got back from riding it home.
Man, that shit is fun! It's so damn light and flickable. I was just leaning back and forth to scrub in the tires a bit. Definately a great beginer's bike. The throttle is nice and unforgiving. I just took it straight home. Didn't try any twisties or anything. Looks like we'll be going to a lot or something this weekend to practice. I kinda wanna buy one to just whip it around to and fro. I still can't get over the looks. It looks amazing and it's about the same size as my bike when sitting next to eachother. |
Very nice. Now where are the pics?
|
dude those new ninja 250s are bad ass looking.. makes you want to ride it just for how it looks.. headlight looks a little weak imo - something ain't right there - but the rest of it is very sweet looking... good deal.. best of luck to her on the new bike.. i wish i could get the wife interested and get her one.. she is taking a hiatus from even riding on the back of the r6 until we get our life insurance sorted out, etc. whatever.. if i wait to get my ducks in a row i'd probably be 50 when i started riding again.. but yeah i like that new ninja 250 - not a big fan of team green but that is bad ass...
|
|
I can't see those pics, did you pick it up already?

Congrats man. I'm glad you got the price down some. Has your wife taken the MSF class yet?

Since you were talking about getting one, I got to include what me and fpzx were talking about at his Kawa dealer.
If I got one, I would have to look into getting some wider wheels to fit better tires. I would put a full system and rejet because that really make this bike come to life. Other than that, this bike is crazy go nuts kewl. It's nice to see someone offering a great bike in the 250 class finally. |
:dthumb:

Awesome dlit... that bike looks killer. She'll do great on it.
Can't wait to see some pics of her progress. :dthumb: |

Congrats! The little ninja looks awsome now!

My buddy just tried to buy an O6 FZ1. A Local Yamaha/Honda Stealership wanted $7249 for the 06 tht has been sitting there forever. The 07s were $7269. Yes a $20 difference. They wouldn't budge on the price. Which apparently I found out they have 3 brand new 2004(Yes I said 4) Honda RC51s that are still in the crates. They won't budge on their prices plus they have complete assholes working there. They'll cuss in front of customers. Which I don't care about cussing but I think it's bad salesmenshop. For all they know I could be a multi-millionare preacher who would love to buy more toys.
My buddy had $7000 cash and if they came down to probably $7000(OTD) or less he would have bought it that day and the bike would be gone. Anyways I guess it's been established that $5000 is way too much. Which honestly if you can be patient I bet some used 08s will pop up fairly soon. A lot of people get them for a few months then want something faster. So they sell them for fairly reasonble. Also have you looked into the Ninja650r? I hear those are some pretty decent beginner bikes too. Also my buddy got an 08 SV650s and that thing is perfect beginner bike. The torque on it is not bad at all. It's nothing like the carbed SV650s which had a lot of torque around 2-3k which can get dangerous. Just a thought. But good luck with your hunt. |

Now I'm probably going to hold off on a new sportbike and get an ATV. Either a Yamaha YZF350 or a Honda TRX300. They sell both but I won't be going there ever. Dlit. I got through I think 4 pages and said "Fuck it I'll comment". But glad to hear. Those Ninja250s are pretty fun. And I want to see some knee dragging on that bad boy. |
Themarket must not be that good here. A girl friend of mine just got one for under msrp.
|
Finally got a response from Honda East Toledo.
It's 3369.50 OTD without your state tax. |
Ask me if I care.
