Draggin' feet
Do you do it? If so, how far and why?
Just something that came to me as i was riding behind someone the other day. I always put my feet on the pegs as soon as I get under way; the exception is when I'm in a line of traffic moving up to a stop sign when I know I'm only going a carlength or so- then I usually tuck my feet behind the pegs (naked SV, standard riding position). I've noticed that rydaz around here (as opposed to riders or bikers) almost always leave their feet hanging until 30 MPH or so, usually spread as wide as they can with toes pointed out to the sides. Seriously... I don't get it? This seems to apply even if they're rock-steady at low speed, so it's not a barely-able-to-ride thing, and even if they're the first in line at a light with open road ahead. Does anyone here do this? |
:?:No

 I drag my feet, hang off the side, etc for various reasons, often in a straight line...and even in moderate turns...
1) Im friggin hot and holding my legs out gets me some much needed ventilation 2) Im bored as hell 3) Im farting off just because I can... |
On long trips I drag my feet, Usually 1 at a time to stretch out my legs. I have bad knees and they can't take being bent for hours on end.
|
I'll do it after a long day of riding as I come thru out little town headed home. It's just a way to stretch out my legs but other than stretching or getting some ventilation I don't see the point.
Unless you're trying to be cool like Rossi....:nana: |
i do it on occasion. my boy tom does it all the time, but he drag races his K5 so it could be habit from that
|
I always thought people do that leaving lights cause they are imitating drag racers and how they leave their feet down leaving from the line.

I know some guys that do it like you described but in general I think they're tools. :idk: |
Nope, I get mine up on the pegs as quickly as possible.
|
Lame.

I use my frame sliders as highway pegs.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...%202007/12.jpg I drag my feet downtown when all the redlights catch me (a redlight every block or two speed limit is 30 through there). I get aggrivated putting my feet up for a few feet only to put them down again. It's kind of like racing from one red light to another...it makes no sense! When out on rides, sometimes I'll drop my feet to stretch my legs, although I'm more apt to stand up on the pegs than drop my feet or stretch them out in front of me. :idk: |

I'll stand up on the pegs, sit on the back seat, or hook my feet over the passenger pegs, but that's about it... I guess the drag racing thing goes with the stretched/chromed swingarms, hadn't thought of that. |

nope feet up and out of the way as soon as possible.
i stand up for stretching though. |
soon as I'm movin and stable, usually by the time I hit 5mph, feet are on pegs and they're STAYIN there unless I'm going to stop again real soon.

Mmmmhmmm... :orly:  Actually, YES! And I can also use my sliders as highway pegs, tho its my feet resting on them and not my knees... |
A lot of my brothers do that... I think it's because they have a tendency to idolize drag racers rather than road racers. I do that about 50% of the time...
|
I only do it in the rain...
|
My feet are up unless I'm being lazy, but that isn't very often.
I most always have the ball of my foot on the peg and not riding with "duck feet". That drives me nuts. |
Helmet dragging is where it's at...

I never drag my feet - something about fear of stationary objects breaking my feet I think
I do extend my legs every once in a while out to the side to crack my knees, that's about it. |

No, but maybe they're cooling off their balls or some shit. The wind might hit 'em just right when doing that.

I think it is a sure sign that they suck at riding and they know it.
If you think you might just fall over while leaving a stop, you probably will. I give them lots of room. |
