Drinking casually amongst friends at a bar it's reasonable to say the 2-3 drinks an hour is a normal pace. So at 4-5 beers over 2 hours, you would still be sober. Especially if it was something like bud light or miller light. You can drink a 12 pack of that and still not get buzzed.

Alcohol can stay in your system for 6 or more hours. Five beers in a 2 hour period and the average person is going to be pushing .08 BAC hard. That's the legal limit in most places.
