A good friend of mine hit a vulture with his head going about 50mph on a big ZRX group ride. Knocked him out cold. He let go of the bike and began his tumble. Luckily there was a 5" thick cedar post barbwire fence to slow him down....when he sheared it off with his fucking head.
He got Careflighted out and recovered fully after about a week...but he was pretty messed up at first. VERY SCARY.
The bird died on impact.
BTW, that's a pretty cool story about the Eagle. Good on him for going to the trouble to do the right thing, I would've done the same.
