If I remember correctly you need to hold the crank from spinning on the other side (I think dont remember), and break it free. It should have been installed with locktight so it wont be easy to get off. Other than that nothing special to get it off

Make sure it's not "reverse thread"...
barring that, I'd say impact wrench is the way to go.
