954 CCT Question
Just looking for some confirmation I guess.
I'm assuming the 954s were known for poor Cam Chain Tensioners right? Seems like a few bikes from around that time were. I'm getting some noise from the top end. It's just about time for a Valve adjustment according to the manual so I may crack it open tomorrow and check it out. Just wondering if I should look into a new tensioner. If so, is manual the way to go?

LOL, if you think a 954 is noisy, try a 929. Not to mention regulators & stators always going bad on these bikes. This, from a company whose quality is supposedly the best.

I really should just go ahead and buy the parts now and put them next to the oil filters and air filters in the garage. |

Hmm...Known to be noisy too? Didn't know that.
I got lazy this morning and didn't work on it at all. Maybe I'll still check it out though. Since the valve adjustment is coming due it wouldn't hurt to check them. If they're in spec I'll just say "screw it" and ride it as is for a while. If they're out then we'll see if an adjustment cures some of the noise.

Manual is the best route. Cheap, easy and they look good too.
When did you get a 954?
