4 Indicted In Doctor's Killing

BELLVILLE, Texas -- A grand jury in Austin County indicted four men charged with the capital murder of a Houston doctor, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.

Dr. Mario Gonzalez, 56, was shot to death at his 30-acre ranch in Bellville on Aug. 22 during a home invasion.

Misael Santollo, 18, Cristobal Galvan Cerna, 23, Moises Galvan Cerna, 18, and Noel Galvan Cerna, 21, have been charged in connection with the slaying. Three of the suspects are brothers and Santollo is a cousin. Noel Galvan Cerna was Gonzalez's ranch hand and was injured in the shooting.

Investigators said Gonzalez and his 29-year-old wife and their 18-month-old son arrived at the ranchhouse and were confronted by the suspects.

The wife and child were able to hide from the gunmen in a closet.

Grand jurors began hearing the case in a closed session Wednesday morning and returned the indictment shortly before 11 a.m.

The suspects are being held at the Austin County Jail without bond.

Gonzalez was the critical care chief at Houston's Methodist Hospital.
