Default Spam and virus'

So, yea I have to rant first before the story.... because I'm pissed. And I can only be pissed, because I now am safe and not worried.

I want to stab every virus and spyware creator over and over and over again until they can no longer move, but not yet to the point of death... so i can then piss on their face....

Ok now story time that i've stated that. I am in the process of switching from Ohio State to OU. In doing that I am at Columbus State for a quarter. So i've been there since september. Well, i bring my laptop there to do work... but the wireless internet system is very strict and you have to have security definitions extremely up to date. About last week, there was an update error, so i could no longer access the internet. About this past weekend I noticed that everytime I was on this site passing time and I loaded a new page, a spam ad popped up. And TWF seemed to be the only site doing it. So I turned up my popup blocker and ran a spyware search. But it started happening more and more frequently, and started happening outside of this site. So today it got extremely bad and the computer started doing funny things. Something had turned off my FIREWALL!!! I am kidding you not... in a matter of a half an hour my computer had become so infected with new virus' and spyware that completing normal tasks became an arduous task. In a last ditch effort I deleted my AVG and downloaded the new AVG and ran it as basically everything was disappearing off of my desktop. I turned the computer off and back on... and the new AVG has locked down every trojan and virus... and everything was back. I am so relieved.... because in the crazyness of the whole thing I came to the realization that I might lose everything on my computer that I have saved over 3 years. Thousands of music files alone... I never have, but I might have to invest some money in a hard drive to backups on....

But to my question... Has anybody ever had problems with crap coming from this website???

Never with this site.

Although about 4 years ago, I wasn't paying attention and downloaded a couple bad files over limewire. One day I noticed my laptop's fan was coming on at all times and that I seemed to be low on memory. I was then introduced to AVG and another program and they took several hours to removed over 8 gigs (Not kidding) of small 44.5 kb files with all sorts of titles and no real function from what I could tell.

Now, I pay attention to things.

never had a problem with this site particularly, but I find porn sites and some really random ones will do it.

Thats why you use Frostwire instead of limewire, they're sister companies. Had Frostwire for 2.5 years and no problem... and then got scared becasue my old roommates current roommate had the FBI show up at their dorm and force/watch him delete every music and video file on his computer... no fine, but it was a warning! Now I was just using it for like one song a week.. the ammount of files this kid was downloading was unreal. Thousands upon thousands of songs. Full length movies. Full seasons of tv shows(southpark, family guy), and video games....

AVG is amazing... and free!! Ever since my year of McAffee ran out I've used AVG free 7.5, well up until yesterday. I now upgraded to AVG 8.0 and it is amazing... and still free. I cant imagine how good it would be if you bought the full software... I also run Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy....

Hmmm... I did notice a couple nights that when my computer was in Standby, the fan would kick on!!! Sometimes the fan would just run and it would stay in standby, sometimes it would turn the computer on...

The only reason i asked was because it seemed the pop-ups started here and became more frequent. And no I dont surf random porn sites... why would you when there's all inclusive free Youporn and Redtube??

There is nothing malicious going on at this website.

Back your shit up, now. Back it up on a separate piece of hardware. Hell, even keep it at someone else's house if it's that important. External hard drives are so cheap now; there's no excuse for not having one. I have 4 of them. 3 of them sit there, plugged into my file server at home. 1 of them gets carted around with me back & forth to work. I can lose all 3 drives at home, or the one drive I carry around, and not lose a single bit of data. Buy one, it'll pay for itself many times over.

I'm with this guy!! I save everything onto an external! I can carry it around with me and it wont slow down my laptop with all the various junk I keep around!

SyncToy 2.0 is a great, free file syncing utility from MS. That's what I use to back my data up.
