Most User Friendly GPS?
My mother wants a GPS unit for her car, so I'm going to surprise her and get it for her for Christmas. Thing is, she's... well, retarded when it comes to electronics. What's a good GPS unit that is the easiest for technology challenged individuals to learn quickly and easily?

Garmin FTW!! Ive used the Garmin Nuvi 250 for several trips, both in a car and on the bike and as far as user friendly goes, it beats TOMTOM hands down.
It also doesnt send you off into the woods as often as the TOMTOM systems I've used...better mapping I guess. Touch screen, easy to read/understand options, and verbal directions make it a surefire way to reach destinations easily and without mishap!  I sound like a commercial, maybe they should hire me!

Anything by Garmin is a good bet. They are the industry leader in GPS navigation. This months Consumer Reports has GPS receiver ratings in there.

So Garmin is easy to use then? I know the name well, and looked at a couple units for myself a few times. My concern is how easy it is for my mom to use. I'm trying to look at it from her perspective. Is the layout easy and straight forward to use? Are functions clearly labled and easily accessed? Basically, is it Mom Friendly?

I just bought a NUVI 270 (Garmin). VERY easy to use. It's a handheld/auto GPS. It also came preloaded with US and Europe. Best yet-$159 on Amazon.
 Bought the carrying case,120VAC/European adapter and NUVI for $179 out the door.

+4,000,000,000 to Garmin. TomTom makes you do alot of u-turns.
My parents (in their late 50's) have a Garmin and they love it. They are also not the most technologically inept people. We also have the Garmin and it's been a life saver, once we got it.
