So the rear brake is useless on a sportbike? News to me.
For some reason (oh I dunno, PHYSICS maybe), having two wheels doing the braking always seemed stronger to me... |

My favorite quote "It won't make you crash, but it will zap valuable attention." They are literally saying using the brakes can get you into trouble. I guess that whole riding a bike thing is just too much input and we should all go back to trying to put a square peg into the square hole. They say it's useless, then they say in "almost" every application and then it wastes your attention. So what does it really do? I also like how they skipped over where you could move back in the seat to put weight over the rear aiding in it's ability to help stop instead of drag, but I guess that's one more thing to use up your attention. They really like to emphasis your focus on what's ahead of you instead of actually trying to negotiate it properly. |

That was entertaining. I will say, in their defense, I and many others were told to stay away from the rear brake as it was more trouble than it was worth for braking. (Not that I listened, just ask Trip) And when giving a newbie the basics, I tell them to leave the rear brake alone till they learn to control the front.
