Cutty's random adventures
OK
I bought a new ride 5 days ago, brand new Buell 1125R. The supreme american sportbike. Don't have a whole lot planned this year (yet) but I'm sure some things will arise. Have 6 weeks randomly throughout the summer of guard duty around the country, which I plan on the bike tagging along. So, lets wait and see what the summer holds!! :nana2: |

First time getting Vader (the 1125) out and about was great!
Pulls like no other, and power wheelies all day. Needs a pipe to let more of that V-twin rumble out, but that will come. On a lesser note, it does need to make a trip to the doctor. Dies when the clutch is pulled in with no power applied, and the check engine light is coming on. We shall see what comes of this. |

Well, off in the land of trees and lakes, I find myself actually able to find a few twisty roads.
When playing on these roads, I do realize two things. 1. the 1125R loves to eat up curves, it just begs to be leaned over going full out through them. 2. my right hand cannot resist twisting that grip. this bike is awesome, and I can't wait to get it to a track where i can see what it will really do, as well as gain some more skills to use a bit more of it's potential. |

Shit, been awhile since I've added too this.
Well, down in IA now for another military school. Of course Vader made this trip with me as well, gotta keep sane somehow. Odometer is sitting a little over 2200 now and what a great time it has been. There are a few little quirks with the bike, as with any brand new model release, but nothing overly harmful and not keeping me from riding. Looks like a track day (and a new rear tire) are coming up quick and in short order! |

Ran it on the dyno again tonight to get torque specs
129.59 hp 74.35 ft/lb very nice. Afterward went for a ride with some local sportbikers. 2 guys on R1's, 1 CBR 1000, 1 GSX-R1000, GSX-R 750, 2 GSXR-600, one riden by a fun and good looking female who liked to shake her ass while riding (thanks Theresa) and another chick on a Suzuki 500. Hit a decent road cruising along at a casual pace, I was bringing up the rear cause I didn't know the roads well yet, and don't mind following in that scenario. All of a sudden BOOM, lights tumbling everywhere. Chick on the 500 went down in a corner on some gravel. Right hand corner, bike slid on it's left... only thing I can think of is she stood it up and then locked up the rear and put it down. Get up to her, she's ok (leather jacket, lid, boots, and jeans) bike is ok, only the engine case guard is scratched. Get her and her bike out of the road, direct traffic around us, get all back together and head out again. All night long we've been watching this storm front moving in, "wow that looks cool" "look at all the lightning" Yes... we are in a flash flood and tornado watch area... We keep riding, cause it seems like a "good" idea. Stop later at a McD's to get everyone's number so we can hook up again later, and a couple of 'em get a bite to eat. Next thing we know... torrential downpoor. SHIT! So one of the guys tells me to follow him to his place 3 blocks away (i was about 20 min from base, through town) Get there, check the weather on line... see a LOT of orange, little bit of red, and green covering the entire state... shit. SO, he gives me a ride back to base in his tribute, and Vader spends the night in the garage... Thanks Paul. I owe ya one. |

Well, put on a few miles on friday and saturday.
Friday was spent around Des Moines with the guys I met before. Hit a couple decent twisty in town roads, stopped at a couple stunt spots, got gas BS'd and went home. Nothing exciting. Saturday I started out riding up to Ames to check out the closest Buell dealership. In a word, it sucked. The service department barely knew what an 1125R was, they had 0 parts in stock for it, and 1 single rack with Buell apparel. I was about to just leave when a salesman caught me and started asking me about my bike. Said he's a through and through HD guy (go figure) but got a chance to ride the 1125 at a track demo day, and was really supprised at what it could do (again, huge supprise). Said there is one guy, the Parts manager, that bought the first one from the store (they've sold 2) and has pretty much the same things to say about the bike, good and bad. Too bad he was gone Came back to Des Moines, played around on the cloverleaves for awhile then met up with Paul and Matt again. They gave me some crap for my unscuffed knee pucks, and said we would work on that later on (pending weather) Rain all day sunday, stupid rain. |

Trying to ride in between rain storms and avoid the flooded areas here.
Hit another bike night to get supper and got to see the new Busa... they really aren't THAT bad, but look better with the solo cowl IMO. Also, they ran a XB9 on the dyno, 82 hp and 65 ft/lb. not bad, no wonder they wheelie! Later hit up some cloverleaves with some others, and now right side chicken strips are gone on the rear. Comonboys made a comment about pretending to be in Nascar. Silly girl, they turn LEFT, not right

Final day in IA, sportbikes got free dyno runs.
It was cooler and less humid, so again we go! 131 hp 75 ft/lb I'm happy. Also saw some bikes that Gman will appreciate. And another couple Buells The New Busa... not as bad in person. And the hearse... what a way to go out. And a half ass shot of the Radical Girls.

Track Prep
Well, I decided that after being gone from work for 2 weeks, one more day wouldn't hurt.
With that, I need to prep the bike for the track. Step 1: New rear tire. After 2900 miles, my Corsa III was about to the wear bars, and rather squared off. I decided best to replace it before the track day. Thanks to the guys at cyclesector.com, I got my new one in time without a fuss. Then, to put it on... hmmm, good thing for the internet, no service manual means no torque specs... Step 2: Remove unneeded shit -Pull mirrors/blinkers -Remove mudflap/license plate/rear signals -Remove Pass pegs -Remove taillight Step 3: Tape headlights -Remove fairing to unplug headlights -Tape -Reinstall fairing with zip ties cause the mirrors are gone... And there you have it a track prepped 1125R
