Default Next bike (MOTARD)

My choices are 690 ktm or a husky 610sm. Either of the two. Im not sure im trying to do as much research as humanly possible. I want good power, light weight and lowish maitenance.(want the husky 510smrbut way too much maitenance).
Anyone and everyone offer your input please.

Whenever I have the money for a next bike it will probably be a sumo. I have no personal experience with either bike but have read a bit about them. One thing I have heard about Huskys is the parts can be hard to get. KTM may or may not be any easier for parts.

I would be really torn between either of these bikes and going all out with a plated WR450F or CRF450X. I know the maintenance intervals suck but something about a bike making around 50hp and weighing well under 300lbs on the street may make it worthwhile.

I also second supermotojunkie.com there is a ton of good info on that site.

You don't mention low maintenance and KTM/Husky/Husa in the same sentence. Or cheap either.

Compared to the really high strung Supermotos the ones Antwanny is looking at are low maintenance. With the racing oriented models you are looking at oil changes (motor and tranny) every 3-5 hours. Valve adjustments are in the 10-15 hour range. 100 hours is considered good longevity out of a top end. Bottom end is probably 250-300 hours.

If you figure a 35mph average the maintenance gets involved and expensive quickly.
