Memorial Day Trip
Last year I had my first long trip over Memorial Day - http://www.twowheelfix.com/showthread.php?t=14972
We did it again this year, leaving Saturday morning at 8:30, met up with the rest of the crew in Columbus. Headed south to Hazard, KY. Day 1 = 404.4 miles (last year was 400 and a record for most in a day for me). Sunday rode to Black Mountain, then turned around at the state line between KY and VA (to say I was in VA). Headed toward Huntington, WV. Not sure how many miles this day ended. The group atop Black Mountain Somewhere in KY on our way to WV Leaving WV Monday took Rt 7 along the OH/WV line up to Fly to catch 800 North (nice road for OH & one we like to do at least once a year). Got home Monday about 4:10pm. Total mileage for the weekend 966, another record as last year was 878 miles for the 3 days. There was 7 of us - ZRX1100, ZX6RR (me), 919, Goldwing, and 3 VFR's. Hubby picked up a 2007 Anniversary Edition of the VFR on Thursday. Thanks to tached100rr... he started looking for a VFR. Then he found out they don't make the 800 anymore. So the search began... he found one in Pittsburgh on Craiglist. Went last Sunday to look at and then back out on Thursday to bring it home. Had about 1900 miles on it and looks brand new, even has a "new smell" to it. He had rode it about 30 miles before leaving on this trip. Thankfully he had no issues with hands going to sleep and really enjoyed himself. All we need now is a Yamaha to complete the circle of at least one of each manufacturer. And yes, he is trying to sell the ZX-10. We had a guy come look at it but has to sell his bike first (his wife says so). We'll see if that really happens. All in all, good ride. Everyone stayed upright and no rain! I couldn't believe after all the rain we've had that there wasn't even a drop or a cloud in the sky during the entire trip. Roads weren't too bad, but not as clean as last year. We kind of expected it with all the rain that's been around. Last edited by racedoll; 06-01-2011 at 09:12 PM.. |
