Netflix Or Blockbuster?
Okay you penny pinching bastards. I have accounts with both Blockbuster and Netflix. I like things about both of them but I am thinking about getting rid of one because I don't use them enough now that I am working 60+ hours a week. Here's the breakdown;
Netflix $8.99 plus $2 for BR/month 1 disk at a time, unlimited streaming. Good-Free (and rather good quality) live streaming to my PS3, and all of my computers. Decent disc library/selection. Fast turnaround. Bad-Disks are mail only. Streaming library still needs some work. Weak Blu Ray selection. Extra charge for Blu Ray access. Blockbuster $17/month 3 disks at a time, unlimited in store trade ins. Good-Large Blu Ray selection. Can trade movies in at store and get new movie for free (no return date/late fees this way, btw). Huge library. Bad-You have to pay for streaming and the selection is weak anyway. Slow movie turnaround. Okay, which does everyone think I should keep? |

If you use the streaming option a lot I stay stick with Net Flix. The three disc option from Blockbuster is nice but if you work that many hours a week you don't have a lot of time to watch 3 movies anyhow.
just my 2 cents worth |

Thanks! To tell the truth, I didn't use the streaming much before they started streaming to PS3 and I got a new computer... I'm watching a movie right now while I type this and it works really well and the video quality is good. You're right about the three movies, I have two movies that have been sitting here all week already and I got a third from BB today.

The one good thing I'll say for the BB store is that you can get a movie NOW. If Netflix starts streaming new releases then it's all on!!! I'd kick them $30/month for that service. Eventually this dinosaur cable company will finally get VOD and this debate will be moot! Although between HuLu and Netflix streaming... |

Redbox, it's all I can afford. Nearest box is only 2 miles away, so no biggie.

Never had a problem with them, except we live on the edge of the hood, and Mickey D's where the box is at closes at 8pm.
