People always say the 999 was ugly. Granted, it wasn't beautiful, but it was OK. Especially if you compare it to the average Japanese bike.
Also, the 1098 is dime-a-dozen. The 999 is much rarer, and therefore more interesting when you come across one. |

The 999's looks definitely wasn't wowing in nature, but it looked distinctive. I can't tell if that's an R1 coming at me or that's a 1098/1198.

Following the 916 and its children (esp in a traditional company like ducati) with something radical wasn't the best plan
