Default Dropped the Strom last night.

So, after fireworks, I get the desire to just go out in the country and look at the stars. I go down an old dirt road next to a cornfield and park the bike. I remove my helmet, gloves, etc. and lay back on the bike. I'm nice and comfortable, just enjoying the night air. My stupid cell phone goes off. Fine, I'll check it. I adjust my position to pull the phone out of my pocket and the bike fell over, away from the kickstand. I guess the area the tires was in was lower than the area the kickstand was in. I just layed on the ground laughing. It busted the plastic on the front turn signal stalk, and that's it. Too damn funny.

At least you can laugh about it, and that 1st drop is out of the way.

At least you weren't this guy (the one about 1/3 way down the hill):

A Strom rider was with us on Saturday, on a nearly new bike. He dropped it going down that steep rutted hill with us - tweaked his luggage. No injury.

I'm not even sure why someone would want to take a vstrom on a "trail" like that. Stupid IMO.

why not... they're very capable of it with the right tires.

Strom's are actually very decent off road in the right hands. heavy but shit people ride them around the world.

I definitely need to get some knobby tires if I plan on riding the strom on any type of trail. The death wings suck ass on anything other than good pavement.

Hell, I just used electrical tape to hold the signal stalk together for now. I'll spend money to fix it when necessary.

Sucks that you dropped it but glad you could laugh about it. Funny story to tell!
