so i was wondering
if anyone else intentionally shift locks the rear tire so they can practice recovery? I do it at least once a week on the cm, really saved my bacon on sundays md run. I was coming down a hill that lead into a left curve and went to downshift and bumped it a gear further than i blipped for. Pulled the clutch, kicked to second, let her settle and blipped and took the corner. eased my pace a bit after that. Few too many close calls this weekend lol

My current bikes have a slipper clutch so no can do...I have done it on other bikes goofing around though.

I do it at the track a lot, but it's not on purpose. I don't practice it.

I learned to roadrace on a Honda Hawk 650 and found slipping the clutch lever out gently allowed me to modulate rear wheel lock up and engine braking. I turned my observation into a skill aboard an SV650.
My ZX6R has a slipper clutch but you can still drag the clutch out and get some benefit of engine braking and even drag the rear tire abit before the slipper clutch interferes. I have observed Jason Pridmore using this technique on a slipper clutch equipped GSXR1000 and know that the skill is not something you use every corner, but in certain circumstances it is a handy tool you can bring out and use to great effect.

The slipper on the gixxer is adjustable, so you can set it to how much wheel chatter you like.

Yup! I downshift from 2nd to 1st going 70mph and get absolutely no chatter.

Slipper FTW!
I can get some going into first on uneven surfaces... like the ripples going into Turn 3. I don't go into first there anymore though but I have.
