Shipping overseas?
Anyone here shipped a bulky item across the pond?
A guy in Ireland would like to buy a set of bodywork from me but the shipping quotes I am getting from the big companies (UPS, DHL, USPS) are ridiculous. Any recommendations on shipping companies to look at? Thanks for any help.

What bike is the bodywork for?
If he can wait send it regular mail. That's how I shipped everything to/from England and it wasn't really all that expensive. |

It's a 675.
Ironically, depending on the shipping costs, it would be cheaper for him to buy it from me, pay a few hundred on shipping and still save money over the cost of buying it there. I have to check with the post office tomorrow. Looking online, USPS won't ship the size box that is needed. So far I've gotten the costs down to $335 including insurance. DHL quoted me $835. That was WITH the online discount of about $70.

I've shipped a lot overseas, like suits and gear. USPS International Priority Mail is usually the best price, surprisingly enough.

I'm checking with them tomorrow. The site doesn't give you the option to send any boxes over 12" international.

12 inches long? I've sent boxes a lot longer than that. I thought for most countries the limit is something like 80-100 inches combined girth.
