Only recently have we switched to chemically altering our food and the soil it grows in.

Maybe I should go to Google and do some reading. My understanding was always that Organic isn't as foolproof as Pesticides, and that can lead to famines and such.

Actually, genetically engineering foods that are resistant to pests is a way to prevent having to spray deadly fucking shit on your fucking food...but idiots that fear science, and don't fucking realize that we have been effectively "bio-engineering" food for centuries anyway (only doing it through hybridization, and selective breeding, "hit-or-miss"), freak out at the thought of more carefully, and directly manipulating the genetics of food, and they call it "frankenfood", and march, and protest against it.
Pesticides are designed as neurotoxins. At least genetically engineered food is designed as FOOD. Gee, which do I prefer to ingest?

Why? Money. Farmers were convinced that raping the land and covering the crops in chemicals would yield more/bigger/better crops which yield more money. It is the whole "corn" debate all over again.

There is a difference between cross-pollinating two types of wheat and genetically engineered food.

Buying organic is fine, if you want to pay twice the price.
Even if you go to a farmers market, who's to say they didn't use pesticides? |

Wow dude, that's a rather old reference; I think you should check to see if the crystal in your hand is flashing.

I suggest you watch the episode of "Penn and Teller's Bullshit" on genetic engineered foods.
