Yeah, Smit. She undeniably has talent, as that clip shows...but did anyone notice her until she dyed her hair, and got naked? Before she went pop? No.
Look, John Mayer knew he'd have to do pop records before he could do what he really wanted to do (listen to his John Mayer Trio record; TRY, if you want to hear John in his chosen environment). Sometimes, you have to appeal to the masses first, before you can even get anyone to hear you FOR REAL, doing what you really want to do. It's probably better than simply paying the bills in a wedding cover band, and secretly writing killer shit in your basement, where no one will ever hear it. I can't fault her, although I do hope she one day gets to lose the artifice, and doesn't simply end up getting all caught up in her own act, and then forget how to find her way back to just being Stefani Germanotta. That girl is talented.
