School traffic?
The China traffic jam thread got me thinking...
Who else has noticed a SIGNIFICANT increase in traffic since school started? All the schools around here have started back in the last two weeks and my commute time (7 miles all local) has doubled. There seems to be 3x's as many cars on the road. This is not kids/parents going to school. I don't go through a single school zone on my drive. Who are all these people that have decided to return to the roads now that the kids are back in school? What were they doing all Summer?

Schools here don't start until 9/7. But there is always an increase in traffic around the time school starts. I chalk it up to parents adjusting their work schedules or stay at home moms running morning errands since there are no kids at home.

Anyone else notice that around this time of year it gets darker earlier and it gets a little colder?

School hasn't started here yet either but traffic always increases as a result of the busses on the road (we don't have a lot of walkers around these parts)

I leave the house right as the buses hit my neighborhood. I don't have a long drive to the train station so it doesn't bother me that much. Worse case scenarion is I miss my normal train and have to catch the next one 10 minutes later.
Unless its a retard bus or a cripple mobile. Then I just hang back and make faces. |

Today was the first day of school in the county I work in so we left 15 minutes early because traffic gets worse this time of the year every year. It actually wasn't noticable today so tomorrow will be 10 minutes earlier than usual just to gauge.

Same here with the traffic. Guess alotof th erents go back to work once the kids are out along with the school staff being back on the road. the morning traffic gets worse. Traffic later in the day is still the same though.
