Ohio - 1990 Honda XR200 - $600
Fresh bore, high comp piston, new valves, guides, and springs, new clutch plates, misc new trans parts (shift drum, shift star, etc), new front brake cable, perch and lever. Front forks have new seals and oil.
I had all this engine work done and it cost me over $600. This bike rides, runs and shifts tremendously well. All together I have about $750 in repairs in this thing with the forks and all. It does have a slipping kickstarter gear which sometimes makes it hard to start. Once you get the procedure down though it's not too bad. Many XR veterans say it's better to bump start these bikes once they have a high compression piston anyway. Also has slightly tweaked handlebars, that's how it was when I bought it. Tires are about half I'd say. Brakes are functional, but they are drum and are just not very good if you are used to a disc brake. |
