The pro grade LEDs that you can get from commercial sellers last pretty well, but the cheap ass chinese Wally world/home depot/target lights will last maybe a season or two longer. We switched to LED for our inside decorations 3 christmas ago. We leave them on most all day since its dark most of the time. We have never seen a single bulb go out. The old fat incans would go out in a year and dont store well. I forget what brand we got.

I'll go tape the ones down the street. There is one that is really good. And then in another neighborhood there are 3 houses that are linked together. Its pretty crazy. I cant imagine the power drain when those 3 are all lit up.

It's pretty easy. Look at my threads for my christmas lights display from years past. I do lights to music, but I don't use a commercial bought setup, I built mine from scratch.

I think I remember you posting some kind of formula for time invested.

Along the lines of: Display lasting X minutes requires Y hours of programming and Z hours of building.

Is there an average that you've found?
