I don't have cable, so I don't watch it regularly. But we watched a couple episodes and the car accident comparison is spot on.

This people can't actually exist IRL.

This species of idiot is native to NYC. What happens is that they migrate in pursuit of larger homes to store their wife beaters, hairspray and track suits that also have enough space for a two car garage to fit either an Infinity G35\37 or some sort luxury 4x4.
Usually they will choose a "property" within commuting distance to "the city" and the natural choices are New Jersey or Nassau County, NY.
