Well crap. I think I found the link, but most of the pics are gone. The guy just bought some of the pastic type cutting boards and made pieces to fit on the tire changer anywhere it would touch the rim. You put pieces on the rim holders and a flat piece down on the bead breaker.

You can find it here, I did a large write up, posted videos detailing the mods necessary to make the changer scratch proof. Very easy, very cheap.

Getting just about any changer is a good idea - but getting a No-Mar bar to use with it is a better idea. They're the best and won't fuck up your rims...

I will be getting me this when I'm do for a tire change. Last time with me bringing the wheels and tires in, the cheapest was $60 and it didn't take them more than 10 minutes to do it. Now with two bikes that's $120 I can spend on a new tire.

Have you ever gotten a flat while riding? I have, and it's not a lot of fun when you tip it into a corner and the rear tire tries to pass the front. I don't know about you, but I won't chance hitting the deck over a tire that won't hold air, especially if I know ahead of time that the tire is suspect. We can file that one under "stupid hurts".
