Biker killed by drunk
Police: Drunken Motorcyclist Kills L.I. Teen Changing Flat Tire on Bike
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teen boy changing a flat tire on his bicycle was struck and killed by a drunken motorcyclist Monday night on Long Island, police say. Mona Rivera reports Matthew Scarpatti, 19, of Dix Hills, was struck around 8 p.m. while changing his tire on the bike path of the Wantagh State Parkway. Police say James Ryan, of New Hyde Park, lost control of his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle and drove onto the bike path. Scarpatti died at Nassau University Medical Center. Police say Ryan was admitted to the intensive care unit with multiple injuries. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated, second degree vehicular manslaughter, second degree reckless manslaughter, reckless driving and second degree reckless endangerment. |
