Default Protein question?

Can I use a protein powder for the protein requirements in my diet?

Sometimes when I don't have time for a meal, I fire up the ol' Magic Bullet and make a shake. I've started adding a scoop of Whey Protein to that shake but I wonder if it's enough.

Anyone?

as far as I know, there is no total substitute to lean protein, like chicken, tuna, peanut butter, legumes, etc.

Protein bars are more expensive than a smoothie.

In my smoothie I put fruit, yogurt, a bit of juice, and protein powder. Sometimes I have a green smoothie with spinach and avocado. Plus I already have the protein (bought it a month ago before I was laid off) so I feel I need to get some use out of it.

I still get my lean protein at dinner.

I eat zone bars which have an ok amount of protein in them and you can get a box of 5 for like $4 or buy them individually for $1 a piece.
