Default Unemployment Hearing = Amusing Times.

This morning was my scheduled unemployment appeal hearing, done by telephone. I was fired back in April after A) Uncovering a high level multi-million dollar fraud (I was the Fraud Investigator) and B) Opting not to "bust" people's cell phone numbers. Subsequently I was granted 6 months of employer paid unemployment.

Even though I only have 1 remaining payment my former employer had appealed and got their chance to have my benefits revoked this morning. So it was me, a TWC official, and an HR rep (whom I was friends with) from my former employer.

After the initial fraud was uncovered I was written up for....donating blood at a company sponsored on-site blood drive. Now, I've been with the company since 2001 minus a hiatus in 2007 and had never been written up or had anything but stellar reviews. So they had tried to show that I was a problem employee with the blood drive fiasco.

So the HR rep shows up to the hearing. They have no witnesses, they don't even bother to have the supervisor that fired me, who I used to mess around with BTW, show up and the HR rep they sent to do the dirty work was not involved in my termination. Needless to say their lack of preparation and use of vague language seemed to frustrate the moderator.

I'll be getting my decision notice via mail...I believe I won. lol

hahaha, no, a lot of those people all got assigned to work for CF after the de-merger so I didn't work with them anymore.

The infamous ass lady is a family friend now, I think she's on my Facebook. I saw her at my Dad's Xmas party last year. Guess what her reaction was when I went to give her a hug?

The Fo' Shizzle lady had a late term miscarriage and ended up not coming back to work I believe. Very sad actually.

Good for you.

I was just going to post a thread asking if anyone ever appealed their unemployment denial.

I got canned 3 months ago, took them 7 weeks to tell me I was SOL. I appealed, them it took them 3 weeks to send me paperwork, and tell me that very soon they will send me a date on which they will call to schedule the hearing.

Then if I win, the asshats can appeal that decision, and if THEY win, any money I spent will have to be paid back.

I'm glad I don't need the money or we'd be on the streets by now.

Well if I lose they terminate my benefits, and since my last payment is Monday that's not a big deal. I wouldn't have to pay anything back.

I just went back over the paperwork to make sure, from what I can tell if they rule against me the the amount I've been paid would be taken from further benefits if I were to apply again in the future.

Which means you wouldn't be eligible for unemployment for a long time. Hope your current job is a steady one.

When I finally get hired somewhere anyway...

Hopefully that's true, if I were to lose and they wanted payback I'd be in deep shit!

I got hired at a temp service. The place I'm at just signed a 3 year contract with Dell to reman their ink cartridges. They will be hiring almost 200 people, so it looks like I will have a job in another two months. The pay kinda sucks, but being homeless in the winter isn't my idea of fun.
