actually looked like the bikes were off the trail... you can see it goes to the left around the ninja right as the 2nd bike hits him...

He was right next to a Hare Scramble trail. The marked course is a suggestion..

Weird. If not for the comments I would have thought that he was an idiot photographer, who doesn't understand the expression "impact zone."
