i carry this one quite often. holds an edge extremely well. bad part is when it needs sharpening it goes back to factory. (free). good part is that in the lasgt 8 years it hasn't needed to go there.

I usually carry one similar to this, with a 1/4 serrated edge

I've been thinking about one of these, but I haven't looked a whole lot yet.

I've been carrying a Kershaw Ken Onion 'Vapor' for a few years now.
It hasn't been too bad, but I'd kind of like to pick up one of their SpeedSafe assisted opening models.

The Blur, in particular

The only thing I don't care for is the 'recurve' blade design.
Seems like a lot of knifemakers have started favoring blades of that style because I believe it enhances cutting efficiency, but it makes sharpening by conventional methods a real pain in the ass.

I spent some loot years ago on a microtec auto in-auto out stiletto...you get what you pay for as long as you don't lose it...

Hence why I do not own a Benchmade knife.
If I lose my ~$40 Kershaw, I'm a little bummed... (already happened with my CRKT M-16)
If I were to lose a $120+ Benchmade, I'd never let myself live it down.

I've got a Kershaw Whirlwind I've been using for ten years now, it holds an edge ok and I love the assisted opening. Try going to a pawn shop, they'll have knives for cheaper and you'd be surprised at the stuff you can find.

Currently I carry the Kershaw Onion Designed assisted opener ( partially amputated left thumb and I am left handed) but sog makes some great options as do Gerber. My best advice would be to go to a gun show look at whats available at the knife tables. Great way to see everything at once.
