1080p means nothing if the original source isn't very detailed. Game manufacturers often force several pixels adjacent to each other to be the same color. A game will never be as detailed as a real-life broadcast of an NBA player showing every little sweat bead and pore on his face. Why should they, it just hogs memory and slows things down.

well wouldn;t that depend on how much detail they want to put into a game.
also isn't most HD TV compressed to a certain degree. having gone from cable HD to Fiber optic HD i saw an immediate diff.
